Asus Z490-P stability/performance issues

hey im new i just made a account to try and contact you, im not sure how to message on here so i just went to your latest forum you replied to. My system just doesn’t feel right from my mouse feel to random lag and general inconsistencies, and I sum it all up to when i messed around with my drivers and updated my me firmware. im like 99% convinced its the damn cause of this rabbit hole ive been dealing with for almost 2 years now. ive done countless windows installs countless driver combinations and nothing changes it. i recently updated the me firmware again from mokichu’s forum on asus, instead of the previous one i had that started this whole mess from asus website and ive noticed nothing positive yet. i just want to go back to whatever i had before all this bs started, it was fine and worked great, i didnt know how great i had it. i saw you helped another user on a forum and it looks like it got pretty tech savvy hence why im reaching out here. looking forward to your reply meatwar

Welcome, could you elaborate what was your “previous state” and some system information… crucial data…for any user who wants to help you don’t you think?

sorry i didnt know where to begin so i just said my story i didnt think much into it. i have a i5 10600k and asus z490p prime, the previous state im not to sure of. it was all default or auto update from windows, until i got into a tweaking phase. i dont know what my original me firmware version was, i got my first update from here https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/prime%20z490-p/helpdesk_bios/ , if you click bios and firmware it will show 2 options for ME. if i remember right i upgraded to 14.0.45.1389V2.1. they only offer 1 other version which is 14.0.33.1125, i believe thats the one i desire or whatever stock is (im not that tech smart). the mokichu forum driver version is 14.1.75.2420 which is what i currently have. if you need different information let me know, i hope this helps

I’m currently on an Asus Z490-H Gaming with latest ME FW 14.75 (Firmware not a driver…), latest bios 3201…latest know drivers…no issues at all with anything FW related… you’ll have to resume a bit more specific instability issues or any other symptoms …or what can we try to help with…

Latest OS driver is 2441.7.0.0 that can also be found in Mokichu’s collection

Firmware downgrade requires an IC SPI bios programmer… a bit of user skill and the willing to take the risks of failing.

the version you referenced 14.75, is that implying its the mokichu one? 14.1.75.2420, also you could be right and its not related to ME at all, its just when i picked up on my system not being the way it was. My fps is good, my input delay feels sluggish sometimes, all muslce memory for the competitive games i played is nearly gone, my aim is just off. i only directed it to the ME being the cause because i was lurking forums and saw a guy roll back his ME and he had similar issues that i did, and he said they just magically disappeared afterward. considering i have nearly 0 user skill, and dont have a ic spi bios programmer, i think its safe to say thats not a option lmao. Onto some more nonsense, i thought it could be emi emissions related effecting my inputs/pc, real tin foil hat type stuff. ive tried every usb port on my computer. I just went here as a last hope, if you think its not ME related then I don’t think theres much we can do here. I mean im pretty sure ive caused permanent damage to my nvme with how much resets i do. It now has a stutter on boot and exe’s like a nvidia installer take a while to open, my whole mouse will freeze etc and upon research i believe its my drive going bad, ive went from windows 10 1803 to windows 11 and nearly everything inbetween. doing various tweaks and trying every driver known to man for my hardware. i could just be living in placebo so ill leave it up for you to decide. also i just want to thank you for the quick and knowledgeable replies, i appreciate it alot

I’m not bound by such things…
Out of RAM and input delay, seems more tons of unuseful apps on background or driver related… NVMe disk not likely…EMI also not likely i would point things like a quality PSU, a good ground AC connection/UPS… some of this symptoms also occur when the mb is badly seated and make a “little short” with the chassi.
Not pointing here, also any diferences W11 vs W10…
All the best.

EDIT: And yes i flashed the ME FW 14.1.75.2420 [20/06/2024] from Mokichu and im using also the mentioned driver 2441.7.0.0 WHQL [07/10/2024] from him…and mainly all his other drivers, as he keep them updated to latest versions.

my ram is never maxed out, before i assumed the freezes were a drive issue i thought it was ram as well, i tried adding more voltage and changing the timings. i never even considered a short… this was preassembled and the most ive done was repaste the cpu reseat the ram and gpu, and pushed down on all the connectors. In my free time i’ll take out the whole board just to see. And yes, thats why I change versions so much they nearly all feel different, it drives me INSANE. my mouse on 10 feels completely different than 11. from responsiveness to the accuracy/feeling. i think i prefer 10 but I usually remain on 11 as i get the most fps with it, either way neither quite feel the way i remembered it
