Euegene,
Trying to understandā¦āI soldered in the jumperā?
Have been following this thread as i have a couple 7810ās
Can you explain, briefly what you ended up doing modding your 7810ā¦
1.
2.
3.
ā¦etc.
Thanks
hi bud so i have just the pads on my motherboard so i soldered a set of pins to the pads to enable a jumper to be placed there
did you get to the discord server bud
Hi Windius,
Not sure what you would have a jumper on bios chip pads?
You are saying leads,to go to the actual bios chip, for easy removal, simlar to a zif socket poor boys arrangment.
Thanks
There is 2 unpopulated pads about 2mil in size that says service mode I soldered some jumper pins on them and for service mode I put a jumper across them shorting the pins normally take a few resets to do it or you can pin mod which is tricky but not hard
Windius,
Ok i am showing my stupidity,again!.. what is the reason for shorting these to unpopulated pads? I seen this when scouting over the boardā¦,What does shorting these accomplish?
Thank You.
With all respect, your not showing stupidity, just no knowledge at allā¦ i would hate to see you kill your asset, we may say your misplaced here on such forumā¦or similar ones.
Pads with no soldered PINS for shorting
Perfect explanation
Dell service mode allows unlock the fd allowing you to flash from fptw64 or similar I only use external spi {raspberry pi} if I brick my board now
Put in service mode do spi dump donāt try and change everything at once me region is pain with boot loops so start fresh clean bios
Get a34 and do fresh bios before any changes Iām on the discord get as early mentioned between me and frank we have spent close to a year working it all out and now I have 32 core 3.2 ghz and re bar module inserted and ram timings for octo ram ddr4 2133.
I have bricked my board 5-6 times but itās dell they are tanks
Windius
Ok I am green at this, BUT, Am using flashrom under linux.
I try and steer clear of Windows if possible.
I can read and write the SPI bios chip no problem ( Once i get the SOIC clip posttioned good)
I also desoldered the chip as well just trying to see if i could get the power cycle thing resolved.
I replaced the desoldered chip with brand new chip, and flashed this chip with the original dumped, bios that the machine did boot, but no display.
I tried to join the discord you sent me, but the link takes me to generic discord, not greepcgamers?
This particular T7810 would boot but no display.
Now I have to were it continally power cyclesā¦
Sounds like bad Mr region to me
Start with fresh dell bios and make sure it boots
Not sure on discord as Iām on it now chatting with another guy about his 7810
Dell boot loops were a pain it was always a bad Mr region for me there is guides in here for recovering to stock bios
I have used flashrom via pi worked well for me too but if you havenāt unlocked the dell spi bios locks it wonāt work service mode is your friend
For spi flashing make sure you have correct voltage to correct pins a had my pc plugged in not powered ground pin can be taken from a different ground source itās 16kb ish for full bios dump me is 8kb ish
If you have similar sizes you should be good
Also flash rom do you erase then flash or just flash?
OK, by default flashrom
automatically erases entire chip then flases whatever BIN you have fed to to write.
BUT it is possible to write onlya certain regionsā¦with start and stop hex numbers.
As i said at current i have flashed back a dumped bios that was at leats botting up solid, but no display.
So this should be a 'working BIN,but power cycles now,I flashed both in circuit,as well as desoldered,
I do a file compare with Meld, and each flash always looks like my original dumped BIN,when comparing.
Weird.
