Hello ALL!
We made changes to the script and broke everything. UBU has been put aside for now, while there is no free time.
We are studying Linux Mint and other distributions.
Please accept my sincere apologies.

@SoniX Cool that you’re here (I don’t speak Russian
)
No worries
I didn’t see anything broken, just the problem of no longer being able to update EFI Intel Gigabit Driver modules on older platforms with last version of UBU (see the posts a little higher up)
@tistou77
I do not recommend changing the installed Intel LAN file in the BIOS.
@SoniX Sorry, I only just saw the post (no notification…).
On older platforms (like the X299), there’s no problem updating the module.
On newer platforms, it might not be recommended, but I don’t know why.
I have an error when trying to update the microcodes of my DQ77MK motherboard Bios, at the final step mmtools says that it did not find any files (mmtool is at version 5.0.0.7)
It may be lack of space volume
You’re doing it on a dump or Intel file?
You can try manuallyy UEFItool or HEX edit
@IntelModder is the “man” on Intel bios mods and flash.
If you’re using the current Windows 11 (226xx+) or Windows 10 (1904x), you don’t need to bother, as both have the latest version (2019-02-1x) installed. And Windows always uses the latest version, regardless of where it is. You can check with HWiNFO (MCU box).
intel file I guess, is there any problem if the bios file is .bio? and I would use them if I knew how
@jjaomni
When you write an UBU report, you should mention
a) the BIOS and UBU version you have used and
b) what else you have done to get the latest BIOS modules/Microcodes inserted.
This is what I got while trying to update the CPU Microcodes of your mainboard BIOS:
Straight from the mfg web site’s downloads…
Manufacturer - ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
Model -RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 Rev 1.xx
BIOS release - 2101 07/10/2019
ubu version=1.80 b1
Mcextractor v1.103.0-r339
@jjaomni
For my test I have used Michael_Code’s recently updated alternative UBU tool variant “UBU_1_79_alt” dated 06/22/2025. You can find the download link >here<.
Hello there, would someone be so kind to write just a basic guide on how to do this? My Z790 Apex Encore somehow only works with BIOS 0507 (3rd ever release) works okay, but just needs microcode update and this tool would do it for me, but unsure how to use it (as I tried) but couldn’t get it to work with the old guide. Any links to files etc are appreciated!

Welcome to the Win-Raid Forum!
As everyyone can read >here<, I am searching since August 2024 for someone, who is able and willing to write a new UBU Guide.
By the way:
The alternative UBU tool v1.79, which is offered >here< by @Michael_Code, has been recently updated and works fine even with the newest BIOS 2001 for your ASUS mainboard. I just have tested it.
Good luck!
I will learn this and write a guide. Happy to do it.
Managed to do it! Thanks a lot! Is there a way to rename the BIOS from e.g. 2001 to 0507 so that it shows up as the name I want in the BIOS?
The name of the *. cap file doesn‘t matter. It has no impact on the version, which is shown after having entered the BIOS by hitting the related keyboard key.
Can I not edit that using UBU? To make it show something else like when people release e.g. 0070 BIOS versions, wanted to rename it to something mine
No, the UBU tool can only replace a complete BIOS module, but not parts of its content.
Why do you want to manipulate the shown BIOS version? It doesn’t make sense for me.
I’ll explain. My mobo Z790 Apex Encore just straight up REFUSES to flash BIOS newer than 0507 (there is probably 10 bioses in front of that that are newer) and I’m trying to update this old one to ensure it’s more or less as good as latest so that my CPU won’t degrade. If I flash newer BIOS, I get a boot loop, probably a corrupted EEPROM or something, so I want to modify as much as I can in the 0507 BIOS as possible to make it alike the 2001 BIOS (which is newest), or even modify 2001 BIOS to make it think that it’s 0507 so my mobo can take it (which would be best case)
