Hello, i have the same mainboard and i’m planning to use the i5-8400.
Is it necessary to mask the two pins on the cpu?
Thanks.
@Bugger Vance you will have to short SKTOCC to ground. Can do this with a pencil. As far as isolating the reserved pins, it’s recommended, but people have reported being fine without. It’s possible you’ll burn the lands, but it may be inconsequential. FWIW, I have an asus z170 pro gaming/aura, and did not bother isolating the pins. Haven’t checked the state of the lands though. It is fairly easy to just cut small squares of electrical tape to cover them just to be safe though.
@Mov_AX_0xDEAD - can you please look at this BIOS for me, and send an adjusted patcher.cmd file. I get unknown file system FFF12B8D-7696-4C8B-A985-2747075B4F50
https://www.sendspace.com/file/7tlold
I don’t need fixed, well I do, but I will need modified patcher later for further testing & mods on this same BIOS so if you could send modified one or tell me what to add/change that would be appreciated, thanks!
I thought it may be due to some of the tools included with UEFITool because I found similar references with above info and UEFITool here, and current latest UEFITool does not give me that error.
But no difference in error if I change out UEFIFind, UEFIPatch, UEFIReplace, UEFIExtract, Hexfind with the ones from latest UEFITool.
Hi!
I would like to buy a new, better motherboard instead of my existing b150m-ds3h type. Currently it runs with an i5 6500 processor and 2X4 gb 2400 ddr4 (with 2133 mobo’s limit).
I want a right card that supports my current processor BCLK tuning. And if I get a multiplier-free processzor later, then that too.
Also, later on I would like to keep the machine in the longer run, so it would be good if I could include the 8th (possibly 9th) series I7 processor in a new one with some mod. (as in the previous configuration: 775-771).
The amount for the mobo would be about 30000 HUF
Which motherboards are recomanded?
Z170 ones compatible with the i7 8700k with HT?
My old motherbord compatible with the coffee lake cpus?
Thank’s for the help!

Fixing PCI-Express for Coffee Lake CPUs on Sky/Kaby Lake non-Asrock(and some new Asrock) motherboards (7)
"cpu voltage too high : 1.488V"
Got the same problem with B150M-C D3 and Core i3 8100 - all is working but voltage is to high.
Does anybody know how to fix this ?
BIOS had been updated by SPI flash (extracted cap) to 2604 (with included ME 11.6.x) due ME downgrade
https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/B15…/HelpDesk_BIOS/
with the following changes:
vbios 1054 / IntelGOP 9.0.1079
CPUID changes had been applied to
C2 - Sky Lake
80 - Kaby Lake
72 - Coffee Lake (4 core)
with any more actual Kaby/ Coffee Lake version you can install only two instead of three microcode versions.
pcie_patcher 1.4
Remark:
The voltage problem had not been detected on MSI B150M Pro DDP nor Biostar H110MHV3 (both MB with 8100 are working well) - may be an ASUS “special”.
Pentium G4400, G4560 or Core I3 8100 are running with similar patched BIOS (checked with IGP and PCIe Graphic) on all the mentioned mainboards.
Hi newby here looking for ASUS MAXIMUS VIII RANGER pair with i5 9600k can some one probe it can work ?

Hi
any one can help me to run i3 8100 cpu on ASUS H270i motherboard?
@Vaxter - 9600K Microcode is 906EC same as 9900K, you can download here, or it’s also included in the AIO Tool I mentioned - https://github.com/platomav/CPUMicrocodes
As for pins and stuff you need to mod like that, best to ask in the AIO Tool thread, or this one - [GUIDE] Coffee Lake CPUs on Skylake and Kaby Lake motherboards
@MIFans - see link I posted above at #128 for AIO Tool
@Lost_N_BIOS hey thx a lot for all buddy hope you have a great day
SETUP
MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII RANGER
CPUs: pentium G4400
i5 9600k for mod picture of pin mod i am going to try when i get the bios installed

So i am on the side i have cpu and motherboard i used AllinOne the puput file was .bin, as you sayd to mod bios used 3802 but method to flash ASUS bios Flashback don´t work for me and i also tryed use USB with AFUDOS and i get all this
the motherboard was originally with BIOS 3802 i mod same version and downgraded the motherboard BIOS to 3007
afudos 4.40 - Error Bios is write-protected
afudos 3.06.01 - Error using the wrong AFU version, Please use Aptio 5 AFU
afudos 5x -
Reading flash … done
- ME Data Size checking . ok
Secure Flash enabled, recalculate ROM size with signature… Enable.
- FFS checksums … OK
22 - Error: Problem allocating memory
If you cannot get USB Flashback to work with your USB sticks, and AFU is failing you too, then you will have to this method I made a guide for @Vaxter
[GUIDE] Grub Fix Intel FPT Error 368 - BIOS Lock Asus/Other Mod BIOS Flash
i did already many thx to all modded with AIO and able to flash thx to unlocking Bios with Shell.efi as @Lost_N_BIOS said
now the point i used bios 3007 to flash bios MOD by AIO is already flashed cpu i5 9600k still not boot i get 00 code 1 sec power off if i open the shoket and press the cpu by fingers post code gives 00 again but it still power on and the cpu is getting temperature on my fingers
sorry for my bad explain almost spanish here
BIOS BY AIO 3007
ME Version 11.6.10.1196
i repeat the same again but thx for all the help
Did you verify ME version with older CPU, after flash, boot with old CPU in and check ME version in main page of BIOS or with HWINfo64?
Maybe your shorts on CPU not correct? Or you may need to use ME 11.7?
Maybe your shorts on CPU not correct?
i tested both of them already 2 pin 2 pin and 2 pin 12 pin
there picture attached from the 3007 AIO bios working with g4400 and getting post code 00 on 9600k

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG…R-ASUS-3401.zip
Edit 1: I may have to AIO the 3401 and flash it to test with 11.7 ?
Yes, I would test your last thoughts, not sure why 3401 would be necessary, use the latest BIOS. Why are you using 3007 anyway?
Did you confirm your ME version in windows with other CPU, before trying 9600K?
ok i going try 3401 Make AIO push with Shell.efi and flash
there pic from actually non coffe working post code 00 bios
http://es.tinypic.com/m/kbsqol/4
Edit 1
flashed 3802 BIOS and ME still 11.6 9600k not tested now
see pic below
http://es.tinypic.com/m/kbsqq1/4
Edit 2
@Lost_N_BIOS
9600k testd still with 00 if i press cpu it still power on if i close the shoket post code get 00 and power off after 1 sec exactly same as 300x bios ME still 11.6
@Vaxter - try with ME 11.7 then, and make sure you are using latest version of AIO Tool (If you didn’t download recently)
Have you also tested BIOS built with CoffeeTime?
i try to make coffetime bios 3802 now and flash, boot with g4400 and see if i get me 11.7xx also try the i5 9600k to allow flash bios i try to use again efi shell and flash it from windows using FTP as you said by now
Edit 1
@Lost_N_BIOS going to flash bios and i get this warning now using rencapsulated .cap file by coffe
