Fixing PCI-Express for Coffee Lake CPUs on Sky/Kaby Lake non-Asrock(and some new Asrock) motherboards

@Vaxter - extract body from that capsule, you cannot use capsule BIOS with FPT
And, would be best to extract "BIOS Region" from the BIOS too using UEFITool and use that to flash with FPT, if only updating BIOS region via FPT (-bios)

@Lost_N_BIOS board bios is briked now it don´t recognize the g4400 and just gives me 00 no more fight 3 days with board for that

Edit 1
used flashback button with USB and default bios 3703 bios is ok now as default ME still 11.6 i can try extract bios region etc as you sayd and flash it

Edit 2

The USB board overcurrent protection or something is not properly working because all the usb ports except the port included on the usb-c side are gone not working it seems something related to overcurrent protection
when board boot bios usb´s are gone if i plug usb stick on those usb and try read usb with flashback it is working, if bios post all usb`´s are gone from this ports

Edit 3 Bios region extracted and flashed using fpt bios version now 3802 modded with coffe ME still 11.6 the i5 9600k still giving me 00 and g4400 its working

Edit 4 now i am going to get H310 mobo to ensure the i5 9600k it´s alive

Edit 5 @Lost_N_BIOS testing the i5 9600k on h310 motherboard and results are ok the cpu is perfcetly working ofc i clean pins al deleted pin mod to setup on h310 mobo and test it i have to found the way to get this cpu working on my asus M8R ;/

@Vaxter - sounds like there is an issue with the Asus BIOS probably, not fully programmed into the board. Did you reflash FD region too? I just learned this is required when you change ME SKU, see these posts #655 + 662-663 and 668
[GUIDE] Coffee Lake CPUs on Skylake and Kaby Lake motherboards (44)

So you will need to do pinmod or purchase a flash programmer and if BIOS is soldered to the board you also need to purchase SOIC8 Test Clip cable.

@Lost_N_BIOS Did you reflash FD region too?

A: ok for the last i going to try unlock FD region full and shoot efi trick then try to reflash FD region

@svarmod
@nch2312
Guys, you have a similar problems.
It’s doesn’t matter which ME version you using for now. 8700K and 9600K will work only if you will flash full mod bios image. All regions, include Descriptor.
ASUS and ASRock has blocked some regions at default. Thats why noone software tool won’t flash it.

If you don’t want to use SPI for some reason, there is only way exists - first unlock regions once with switching board to service mode. Then flash full image with FPT or AFU.
Don’t forget power off and remove battery after flashing for correctly ME updating.
Info about service mode switching, focus on HDO_SDO method:

they say i can try it without SPI programmer right ?

Yes @Vaxter if you do pinmod then you can reflash fully unlocked FD using FPT, then you can reflash entire mod BIOS including FD (Make sure to unlock FD again in mod BIOS and any other in future, before you flash it, that way FD remains unlocked)

@Lost_N_BIOS i extracted te capsule supreme fx and i can see the audio chip ALC 1150 is very small more tath usual and pins are ver very small this is going to ve very hard to put fingers on it almost i can´t ui can uplad picture but my phone run out o battery

maybe my best choice is to hot swap bios chip on some mobo like asus p8z68 v pro and flash it ?

under supreme FX same chip as this picture below

http://prntscr.com/lxubft

pin 1 and 5 is correct for this chip but the chips is very small

Yes, @Vaxter , you may be able to force flash hotswap from DOS, but I’m not sure about that on a different model board. If you can find a software that will work from DOS on that board/BIOS, then you can maybe find an “Skip ID” check flag or “Force” flag etc
That’s normal size Audio chip, yes pins are tiny (really not pins, connection is underneath the chip, only tiny bit on side). If you can touch the trace on the board it’s same as touching the pins, maybe between side solder and trace pad you can get connection.
Make your wire with needles on the end, then it will be easy

@LittleHill Great!
I can’t go over 103 Mhz. I tried several microcodes, MMTool, UBU, I tried ME 11.6 and 11.7, and Coffee Time 0.7.
Asrock fatal1ty z170 gaming k6 and i3-8100.
The motherboard has the Hyper BCLK Engine external clock generator but I haven’t come up with a solution.
Maybe this motherboard can be solved?

corrected

I tried a lot to flash BIOS by CH341A programmer by this method - without desoldering. It is the same as using the clip. I have made a special cable for it. It doesn’t work - You need to supply all the motherboard by 3.3v!! Working method demands connected power supply (don’t switch on MB) powered with 220v. I don’t understand clearly now, but when You connect 220v, then disconnect and wait 1 min - it works. Maybe 3.3v is supplied to MB. As for pictures - I understood how to see them

Anyone know the password for the patcher in the zip file?

Edit: Eyes going bloodshoot with late nights. 1234… Got it.

Thanks

Has anyone successfully run 8th or 9th gen on the Asus z270f board?
I just wanna confirm before rushing to buy a new CPU.

@Rez - I assume yes, these are the two new tool threads for these kind of mods - ask in one or both of those threads, if searching does not give you any answers
svarmod’s tool (CoffeeTime) - [GUIDE] Coffee Lake CPUs on Skylake and Kaby Lake motherboards (66)
Revlaay’s AIO Tool - [TOOL] Easy automated Mod tool for Coffee Lake bios

Thanks @Lost_N_BIOS
The AIO tool gives me an error during insert CPU Microcode step, while Coffee Time seems to work fine.
I believe 12 Threads is mentioned as the limit for Asus 200 series board, so no i9 9900k for me.
So I will go with i7 9700k as soon as I successfully flash the modded bios.
Anyway, I will probably post more questions in your suggested threads.

Hello friends,

So I have a Eluktronics N950KP6 laptop, with Clevo Motherboard that has a HM270 chipset. Link: https://www.eluktronics.com/N950KP6

Would it be advisable to follow this mod to install a i5 8600? I haven’t seen anyone perform this mod with that kind of chipset, so I want your opinion before I proceed.

Thanks

i would like to ask if this mod can allow me to use my qh8g on my Asus Prime H270 Plus

gentlemen good i need help from someone my motherboard and asrock h110m hg4 my processor and intel g5400 i need this modification for bios this card please can someone make the modification grateful attached to the original bios can someone do the modification.

Hi guys is it possible for Asus h110m-d
to run i3 9100f?
İf yes can someone explain it briefly, i even can’t find required files in this forum. I’m using g4560 on bios of 42xx.
