@crashpb :
See my screencap of CoffeeTime on previous page to know what patch yo need on an ASUS Z170 board.
Microcodes depends on which CPU you ant to mount.
Here is the 3 I have included:
906EC Coffee Lake S (Refresh)
506E3 Skylake
906E9 Kaby Lake
Yes, BIOS 2xxx are the only one to be able to works with 16 threads.
There are some experimental BIOS mods by svarmod (the author of CoffeeTime) that are able to boot on 3xxx BIOS with 16 threads, they reportedly works but no USB device are working before the OS loads, that means you need to plug a keyboard on the PS/2 port. I donāt have found one for my mobo.
alright,
cpu is gonna arrive tomorrow in going to some testing and report back.
ok so an update:
Last two days i did the mod on two motherboards an Asus Z270-g and an Asus z170-M8HA.
on z270g i used a ported bios that i found on oveclockers.ru it was latest dsank rom ports updated with latest micro code. was pretty easy 9900k was working in no time. 4 sticks 8GB each gskill 3200mhz ddr4 worked nicely with XMP enabled.
on my m8ha i tried a beta 3801 version that dsank posted on a chinese forum , it booted usb was working however i could not boot from my nvme drive , my drive was recognized by the mb but even when i manually selected boot override it would simply return to bios setup screen ; because of that I used a 2202 mod that I myself created and its working fine with 9900k my two sticks of 8GB each gskill 3200mhz ram worked fine with xmp enabled.
some notes : my 9900k (m8ha) is running quite hot even at stock (~1.25 V core boosting to 4.5Ghz all cores) , my 360 AIO struggles to keep it cool at stock settings. i think i got a particularly sh*tty sample. though im not much of a pro in cfl OC scene might be able to make it run cooler.
Regarding boot up: Did you check CSM? What you report is the typical behaviour if UEFI tries to boot GPT from MBR drive or vice versa. Do you know whether the Z270-G mod was from an existing late Z270 BIOS or from a related Z370? I really would like to see progress on Asus UEFIs beyond 2202. (For M8R though, not M8H :-))
@PCGH_Torsten
yes csm was disabled , and my boot drive is a plextor m8peg 512GB nvme ssd which is GPT, drive is showing up in bios but it simply wouldnāt boot.
I believe z270g was a port from z370g because it was showing up as z370g in bios you can find that bios in russian forum.
I cant read russian so i can`t dig too deep there but there might be some improvement to the latest mods for z170 boards there too (m8h,m8r etc.) . you can also try latest dsank mod from Chinese forum see if it works on your board.
one other thing that I just noticed in my modded 2202 bios the option for is AVX offset is not available i have to work on getting that back .
right now im trying to coffeemod hp prodsek 600g2 sff and im not having much progress there .
Contrary to popular believe, NVME can be MBR to. I am using that combination myself.
Regarding prefab mods, m8r is hardly ever considered, so I only experimented with coffeetime modded 2202, but I plan to make a permanent upgrade this year and 38xx would be much apreciated for extended RAM compatibility and a couple of security fixes.
6 core cpu needs to modified ok, but i wonder 8 core cpu need to modified? ex. i7 9700f?
I have an Asus Rog Maximus IX Extreme. I want an Intel 6 core processor. How to do it? I donāt know anything about it. Please help me.
Thank you for this guide.
For anyone interested in removing the mods getting rid of the lead pencil marks was harder than I thought. Actually had to use an eraser! Lol.
guys is there a bios port for M9C with support for 16T cpus (qqls to be exact )?
@svarmod
Could you please upload M9E BIOS once again?
Previous file you uploaded has been deleted or expired.
Sure it will be appreciated by more owners of Asus ROG Maximus IX Extreme.
I just got a i9-9900k during a sale, and now after reading like 30 pages of this thread, Iām not sure if it would work on my Asus Maximus IX Extreme. Did anyone else tested this combination?
CoffeeTime tool will certainly work for you if you disable HT. In case of HT enabled Iāve seen experimental BIOS version for this mobo that supposedly works with all 16T but since I do not heave this CPU I wasnāt eager to experiment with it myself.
I am using the M9E with an i9-9900K with 16t active. Everything works fine. The BIOS modified by Svarmod is here:

Nice, thanks. Is it correct that I have to connect two pads on the Mainboard and then simply rename the bios to creative.com and install it with flashback?
PS: What about the USB bug mentioned here? And can can you send me a picture of your mod on your Mainboard?
I read that there is a method of shorting two pins on the Realtek IC, thanks to which the flash descriptors are unlocked, but I have not tested this method so I do not know if it works. I believe that use an SPI programmer is the most reliable method. Thatās why I use CH341A.
With SPI programmer you donāt have to mod motherboard so there is nothing to show.
In older BIOS modifications to M9E dedicated to 16t, enabling HT (disabled by default) meant that UEFI could not see USB devices(under OS USB worked normaly). Now it has been fixed and therefore it is mentioned.
hello, sorry for my english but im from spain.
i have a QNCT from aliexpress but vendor says i cant use in my botherboard (h110m/k20cd/dp_mb).
lets see if someone can help me, i have a CH341a programmer. I try to modify bios with Coffeetime but it doesnt work, vendor says me the microcode of this core is 06ea.
im going to upload my original bios, lets see if someone can edit and lets run it or say me instrutions to do myself. Thanks.
when i burn bios on chip the program says "chip main memory with de contents are in disagreement"
bios: https ://mega .nz/file/R8NX3K4L#u9pLYsuf0-NcgraCePTA3OqWt0SpaBfzgUFxSAlEjUI
edit: i have managed to flash the bios with program version 1.18, but now i dont now exactly the microcodes for my processor QNCT, i try with various bios but dont start.
Just wanted to recommend you guys place some active cooling on your vrms when you do this mod.
Hi Guys,
I am having trouble with my new QQLT CPU.
Motherboard: GA-B150M-PIO-SI (similar to most GA-B150M motherboards except its an OEM type with the PCI-E at the top and at 90 degrees)
I used Coffee Time 0.92 to mod the BIOS and initially I didnāt have the intel ME sorted (would turn on only for 1 second then off). I Modified the BIOS again and tested BIOS with original CPU (skylake CPU), Posts BIOS fine. When I installed the new QQLT cpu, it turns on for around 8 seconds or so (it did not make it to the Post BIOS Beep) then would restart. Moving the RAM to the other slot, it gave 5 short BEEPS (CPU error??).
I re-seated the CPU and now it only does the Power on for around 8 seconds then restarts -regardless of which slot the ram is in.
What do I do from here? Do you need pics of the Coffee time mod or further details?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Cheers
