New flash chip brand spotted on X99 board
When I updated the modified BD4 BIOS earlier this month, I did indeed see that there was a new flash chip supported. Now I can finally see exactly what EON chip it is:
- EON EN25QX Series (SPI id 1C7118, datasheet Table 6 )
For now I have ordered this chip, and I will use my test bench to verify that this actually works. But it looks very promising already. The only thing to notice is that the Descriptor Region also needs updating, so I will probably re-purpose the Winbond 8M entry (SPI id EF4017)
