Please give us some additional informations:
1. With which SATA mode (AHCI or RAID) is your Intel SATA Controller running?
2. Did you install the complete Intel RST Drivers & Software Set or just the Intel RST driver?
Provided, that
1. you mean just the driver (and not the complete RST Drivers & Software Set) and
2. the driver had been installed without any problem and worked fine for a longer time,
this will probably not be helpful.
Nevertheless you can try it. Since you are running Win7, your system will stay bootable.
According to my experience this driver is the best choice for your system.
You can check it by rebooting the system. If the issue has gone, it probably has not been caused by the driver.
