You did see that I moved the cutting at the end after opening in FIT?
[EDIT] I changed the order of the tasks in my last post, the cutting at the end has to be done after CSME is extracted by FIT. Trying otherwise would lead to these errors you experienced.
Linux version of:
Intel (R) Firmware Update Utility Version (FWUpdLcl): 11.8.94.4518
Intel(R) MEInfo Version: 11.8.94.4518 here.
If someone succeeds in updating the firmware using the above utilities, please post the result here, especially for motherboards with older BIOS versions (for example the Intel Z170 chipset series from ASUS).
I tested and can confirm that flashing works using FWUpdLcl version 11.8.94.4518
I tried to re-build firmware with Intel FIT from CSME v14.0.20+ r20 but it gave me this error:
Error 213: [Fit Actions] Failed to load FITC binary to sub partition Failed to get fitc nvar configuration
Error 20: [Csme Binary Gen] Error executing pre-build actions.
Error 2: Failed to build.
Failed to build!
I have ASRock Z270 Extreme4 mainboard with i5-7600k cpu.
currently still using win7 but making dual boot with win10 shortly.
I flashed latest BIOS from ASrock v2.70 and with it comes Intel ME 11.8.50.3425 firm.
Am I able to upgrade this fw and is there a chance to get newer ME software for win7 than v11.7.0.1069 (v11.7.0.1057 inside the package)?
Am I allowed/able to install newer ME software than the version of my ME firm (v11.x)?
P.S. Fernando and the rest,
I thank you so much for your effort thru the years. You saved me with your various drivers countless times.
Always check the driver in package against the HECI device ID in the system
ex:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D3A ;ME11.x - SKL/SPT-LP, KBL/SPT-LP
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A13A ;ME11.0 - SKL/SPT-H
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A2BA ;ME11.6 - KBL/KBP-S
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A1BA ;ME11.x - Purley WS SKL/LBG - Production
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A23A ;ME11.x - Purley WS SKL/LBG - PreProduction
Even last one may work, DriverVer = 04/18/2023, 2331.5.20.0
The driver/link given is on the top of this thread/guide and i see that has as description Windows 7,8,10, now the package on Lenovo only mentions Windows 10, what else i can say…i do not have a Z270 with windows 7 to confirm this, so try it or not, its your call.
extract from dell precision 5820 tower-x 2.31
I just extracted it with the DELL PFS Update Extractor in BIOSUtilities, so please tell me if there is any misbehaviour.
Hello, I would like to ask about the latest version of the Intel Management Firmware Engine for the Aspire F5-573g laptop and whether just running the FWUpdLcl64.exe file is enough, of course, using the administrator, thanks in advance
The second post says to install ME drivers and software “to enable all the Engine-related functionality”. Which functionality will be missing if one only installs the MEI driver without the software for ME 8?
By the way, the following download link to Intel is down (“Access denied”), but I have a copy of this MEI software as “j5mk08ww.exe” from Lenovo which I think I downloaded from this thread earlier this year.
@Flum
The driver itself is enough, this will allow communication between the tools and the HECI of the system.
Yes the link from the Lenovo is the same package you mention.
EDIT: Really cant remember what was the composition of such package, its old and i never used any additional resources of it besides the driver but usually it regards Manageability tools/app/console.
I’d like to just know more about it. Could you please elaborate on the benefits of the full (ME8 consumer) software package vs. driver only? To test it I installed it on an older Windows 7 installation but I can’t find a control panel or anything other than the entry in the list of installed programs. What software should there be and what does it do other than the driver?
