Thanks for the info.
The link is corrected now.

@lordkag quick question can i upload ME firmware from series 5 chip set and use it to flash other models ???,for example i have a dell vostro 3500 which has series 5 chip set, i can upload the firmware, from that firmware i can re flash this in another laptop with the same chip set is it possible ?? and another thing have you got intel ME series 5 software which i can use. or will the 6 series software work on it.

How’s the new 8.1.52.1496 ME FW with the Z68 chipsets? Is it the recommended FW now?

Yes, this new Intel ME8 Firmware works fine with my Z68 system (look >here<).

This is what the MEInfo tool shows after having flashed the newest ME8 Firmware and driverpack:

Thanks. Is it now your new ME8 recommendation for Z68 systems?

Is there a new v8.0 driver corresponding to this new FW release?

It is my recommendation for Z68 mainboards, which are already using any Intel Firmware version of the v8 series. This has to be checked by using the MEInfo tool v8 before trying to flash a new ME Firmware!

If your Z68 mainboard natively has an Intel ME8 Firmware, you can either install the Intel MEI driver v9.0.0.1287, which is within the Intel ME8 Driverpack v8.1.40.1416, or the newest Intel ME v10 Driverpack, which I have used…

@PROMAN28

The story is like this: Chipset x series -> Firmware x+1 -> Tools x+1. Example: Chipset 5 series -> Firmware 6.x -> Tools 6.x. This is not always the case, as you can have FW 8.x on 6 series or FW 9.x on 7 series. But you should always link firmware x with tools x.

For your case, Dell Vostro 3500 comes with a 6.1.10.1052 firmware in latest A10 BIOS. You should use tools 6.x and save this ME with “FWUpdLcl -save”. Sadly, I don’t think this will work with 6.x tools, because I have not seen that argument in the help. Maybe you can try with 7.x tools. I have extracted that ME right from the BIOS file and I can give it to you, but I don’t know if this is as safe as using a .bin obtained by the -save command. It is your risk, after all.

If you have other ME tools or firmwares, please share them.

I found around a program to update Intel GBe to 1.5, someone interested?

What would be the benefit for the user?

I don’t know, it’s an update for Intel Gigabit Ethernet firmware; I don’t have a changelog…

@ gpvecchi:
A change of the GbE region seams to be very risky and I doubt, that the benefit will be worth this risk.
Nodens from ASUS ROG Forum has given >this< comment.

Yeah, I guess you don’t remember anymore that I did already upgrade to v8  So it’s time to upgrade to this newer one then.

For the MEI driver, I have v9.0.0.1287 already installed because that was your recommendation a few weeks back. Is the newest Intel ME v10 Driverpack better to use now?

There is a newer Intel ME Driverpack v10.0.0.1204 WHQL available.
I will upload it as soon as possible.

EDIT: Done!

Thanks! Is it better than than 9.0.0.1287 for Z68 boards?

This question cannot be answered by me, because I haven’t yet installed them onto my Z68 system. The Intel MEI drivers v10.0.0.1204 are much newer than the v9.0.0.1287 ones and running fine with my Z77 mainboard.

sorry for delay in reply @lordkag i recived vostro 3500 from previous technician,he has put a brand new chipset on the board.on my inspection the symptom is fan throttles full speed and will not shut down.i was thinking i should read good ME from good vostro 3500 and reflash it via the tool you provided any advice ??

Ok. And in your system I assume you just use the drivers and not the software bundled with the package, right?

No, I have installed the complete package, but just for test purposes. I generally do not install the complete Intel ME package.

Nope, GBe region remains the same, as the MAC address… It’s a firmware update, from 1.3 to 1.5.
