Yes, in RAID mode all Intel chipsets from ICH8R up (except X79) are supported by these drivers.

By the way: I’m still on the 12.7 OROM (with universal trim mod). There is no 13.0.x OROM, so with this driver I’m thinking I will move up to the 13.1.0.2030 (with universal trim mod) OROM to keep them in sync. Good idea?

There is an Intel RAID ROM v13.0 availabe, even an "Universal TRIM modded" version. It is v13.0.0.2075.

A small 12.9 - 13. RST-OROM observation, 12.9 RST are far better than 13.1 and OROM doesn’t mater that much…

Thanks for the benchmark comparison.
Have you already tried the combination Intel RST(e) driver v13.0.0.1098 / OROM v13.0.0.2075? That could be the better matching combination, because both products are from the same development branch 13.0.
Maybe I will do some benchmark tests myself with my Z68 RAID0 system.



No I skipped that one I don’t like BETA-s, and obviously we notice the RST are far more influential than the OROM. And if not wrong, if OROM is higher version than the RST that is fine, not so the other way around…
And this is on 2 x Vertex3 MI 120GB RAID 0 (forgot there is no "my machine" section here - you should ad one!..).

Is there a release note for this new driver, especially the IRST v13 branch? I ask this because someone (not Intel employee) from Intel Community Forum said that v13 IRST and OROM’s are betas. Don’t know what specific version but he only said v13…

No I didn’t, do not expect to see much difference tho. And it is a pain to insert and flash a locked ASUS BIOS (first put very old version, and then the new modded one…)

Intel only offers a release note for drivers, which are "officialy" released by the Company Intel. None of the v13 RST(e) drivers has yet been published by Intel.
The Intel RST(e) drivers v13.0.0.1072 dated 11/01/2013 defintively were "Beta". In late December 2013 these drivers and the Intel LEGACY/EFI RAID modules v13.1.0.2030 were leaked into the public. So it seems possible, that the BIOS modules have been "Beta" as well (although I have never seen the suffix "Beta" for Intel RAID BIOS modules).
AFAIK the Intel LEGACY/EFI RAID BIOS modules v13.0.0.2075 have been compiled by Intel in March 2014, that means much later than the v13.1.0.2030 ones.

tried the latest drivers but it didn’t work as intended.
Samsung magician benchmark gave results about 1/10 of the previous driver.
rolled back and now is fine

As I have already written >here<, the v13 series Intel RST drivers are not designed for being used with older Intel chipsets.

No, but I saw in your signature an MSI B75MA-P45 mainboard.

B75 is still Ivy Bridge so not really old… but I tested on the haswell MB.



Ok, I had to try it with OROM 13.0.0.2075 after you put a bug into my head!
So here it is, same RST-s 13.0.0.1098 and 12.9.0.1001, but with OROM 13.0.0.2075. And same conclusion, RST 12.9.0.1001 is definitely better, especially in reed.

Thanks for your additional benchmark comparison tests.
The interesting result is, that you got bad 4K-64 Thrd READ results with the combo v13.0.0.1098/v13.0.0.2075, whereas I got much better ones with it.

Here are the latest benchmark results with my Z68 RAID0 system comparing the following combos (from the left to the right):
v11.2.0.1006/v11.2.0.1527 > v12.8.11.1000/v12.7.0.1936 > v12.9.0.1001/v12.9.0.2006 > v13.0.0.1098/v13.0.0.2075

Rating of the test results:

  1. All 4 tested Intel RAID driver/“Firmware” combinations gave me good benchmark results.
  2. The performance differences are less significant than I have thought, before I started the tests.
  3. With the oldest (RST v11.2.0.1006/v11.2.0.1527) and the newest (RST(e) v13.0.0.1098/v13.0.0.2075) combo I got the best READ scores.
  4. The (slightly) best WRITE scores was given by the combo RST(e) v12.9.0.1001/v11.9.0.2006.
