Its a laptop I cant unplug the devices…
And the real system this will need to be installed on is a HP Moonshot Cartridge…
This install is just to see if I could get XP to load on this type of hardware config.
This laptop I am using has the same sata controller and AMD chipset as the moonshot cartridge we want
to get XP installed on… which the cartridge will have less hardware to deal with, no sound, no video and so forth…
I will try the links you suggested as well. If you find any other drivers please let me know.
Thanks again for all your help and patients!
Chuck
You don’t need to load/integrate any other driver except the AMD AHCI compatible RAID driver.
Once the OS is up, you will have access to the Device Manager (otherwise you have a hardware issue). Then look for the VendorID and DeviceID of the devices with missing drivers (right click onto the device > "Properties" > "Details" > "Property" > "HardwareIDs").
When you have the HardwareIDs, it is easy to find the suitable XP drivers.
Good luck!
On those links you sent me, I have tried all 3 versions…
When the package is installing the detection driver fails and then the package will close…
Any thoughts?
@ scrapmetaljoe:
It is really hard to help you.
Which links and which 3 versions do you mean? There was just 1 AMD AHCI compatible RAID driver I recommended to use.
Which package do you mean? The OS Setup should detect the target drive and not a driver.
Sorry for that but you have helped much so far, I have the system booted with your driver but it is limited…
And I am talking about these links below…
i found drivers for xp :
Drivers Amd Pilote AHCI/CIR/IOV/SMBus/USB SB700/SB800/SB900/FCH 13.4 WHQL
http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?..23&v_code=38899
Drivers Amd Pilote RAID SB700/SB800/SB900/FCH 13.4 WHQL
http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?..23&v_code=38902
click Téléchargement icon to get a windows and get file
i found that you have latext cpu with gpu inside so i ilooked at amd website :
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/de…ofessional/Home
i also found an other site having one driver dedicated to your a4-5000
in the middle of the page : https://fr.driverscollection.com/?H=A4-5000&By=AMD&dpage=2
here is a kind of wiki about your cpu and its gpu :
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Jaguar/AMD…%20A4-5000.html
GPU Type: Radeon HD 8330
I tried all the drivers from each one of the links above and they all gave the same result:
The driver install will lock up in regular mode and I have to kill the process
The driver will give an error message in Safe Mode “Failed to load the detection driver” and the install fails
I can get the system up and booted with your amd 32bit driver as I stated above but I cannot access Device Manager or Display Properties unless I am in safe mode.
Then I am having trouble trying to install drivers in safe mode…
A recap:
Your AHCI/Raid driver works, the system is booted. But limited in REGULAR MODE Safe Mode works fine but cant load drivers there either…
The drivers from the links above all fail with lock ups in regular mode and fail the detection driver in safe mode…
The package is the Catalyst Install Manager (from the links above)
It seems to me, that your PC doesn’t have a driver, but a hardware problem.
Please check your system.
Win7 and Win 8 install just fine with no bangs and all drivers are easy to install.
This a brand new system as well… No errors are recognized unless doing this XP install…
A true incompatibility issue or driver issue somewhere…
Since you obviously couldn’t install yet any driver (except the AMD AHCI one), it may be an incompatibilty somewhere else.
What about the ACPI settings? Maybe you should do a fresh XP install by using the same CD as last time, but hit F5 while prompted to hit F6 at the beginning of the installation. Then try another ACPI setting option.
OK, I installed the .net framework 2.0 and now I am able to run the catalyst install manager and get all the way to the screen where is shows all the hardware about to be installed and then it hangs while doing a custom install.
I am in the process of installing the catalyst install manager via express install… I will update you
This is one step closer…
Anymore thoughts?
I will try the new install with the F5 prompt in a bit… I just believe I am missing something here…
OK with .net 2.0 installed I was able to get the video driver and the sound driver loaded with the express mode setup. But still have the cpu usage at 70% in regular mode.
Still investigating…
We are going to install XP64 and see if there is any difference.
Then I will install both XP32 and XP64 on the projected server(that mimics this laptop config) which does not have video, sound or any of the other driver mess to do deal with.
I will update you on how the install went on the A4-5000 server.
Thanks again for all your help.
WE have moved on past the laptop installs and I am now installing XP64 on a moonshot m700 cartridge.
It has the AMD Opteron X2150 processor with the Fusion Controller hub
The controller is called AMD FCH Sata Controller
Do you have a driver for that?
Thanks,
Chuck
Check the controller’s DEV_ID and then search at the AHCI/RAID drivers thread manually. Fernando can’t do everything for you. Personal search is needed first.
This is the info I got:
7804h SATA in AHCI mode with AMD driver
Vendor ID 1022h
I am asking our developers for a Device ID.
Thanks,
Chuck
No, the DEV_ID is the DeviceID, that means the exact identification number of the related device (here: AMD SATA Controller).
EDIT:
The name indicates, that it is running in IDE and not in AHCI or RAID mode.
If my speculation should be correct, you will not need any textmode driver for the XP (32/64bit) installation.
When booting the cartridge is says its an AHCI Sata Controller. But I guess that does not mean its not in IDE mode.
These are the modes the cartridge developer gave me.
7800h SATA in IDE mode
7801h SATA in AHCI mode with MS driver
7804h SATA in AHCI mode with AMD driver
Vendor ID (in case you need it) 1022h
I am being told its in AHCI mode but it does not see any controllers in that mode when I use your disk.
I am just the middle guy here, lol. I inherited this project because I was the only one around that has gotten XP to run on newer system correctly.
As I finally got it to run on the laptop!!
I am dependent on the developers to give me the specs of the cartridge I am using. I am being told the device ID is 7801h
Which I could not find on your site.
Thanks again for all your help!
Chuck
The AMD AHCI driver for Windows XP, which I am offering within the start post of >this< thread, should support the DEV_7801 AMD AHCI SATA Controller.
Alternatively you may try the attached driver:
32bit AMD AHCI driver v6.1.3.35 for WinXP customized by Fernando.rar (222 KB)
Will this work with XP64?
Also I was able to load Vista on the HP m700 cartridge and this is what I saw for the drivers:
The sata controller is using: Microsoft iSCSI initiator 6/26/06 ver 6.0.6002.18005
AMD Opteron X2150 APU 6/21/06 ver 6.0.6001.18000
Thanks,
Chuck
What is "this"?
No, that are not the drivers of the SATA Controller. Look for "Driver Details". Which drivers do you see?
Much more interesting to know are
1. the names of the listed SATA Controllers within the "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" section of the Device Manager and
2. the HardwareIDs of the SATA Controllers (right click > "Properties" > "Details" > "Property" > "HardwareIDs").
What is this? 32bit AMD AHCI driver v6.1.3.35 for WinXP customized by Fernando.rar
The 32bit sata driver you put in the previous post. As we will need XP64.
Vista is showing this for the Sata driver:
Microsoft Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller
Hardware ID:
1022&DEV_7801SUBSYS_78011022&REV_40
1022&DEV_7801SUBSYS_78011022
1022&DEV_7801&CC_010601
1022&DEV_7801&CC_0106
Thanks,
Chuck
Actually I dont have the 64bit variant of the AMD AHCI driver v6.1.3.35.
If you should find it, please let me know it.
The only available AMD AHCI driver, which will support Windows XP x64 and your DEV_7801 AMD AHCI SATA Controller is the 64bit AMD SB7xx & SB8xx textmode driver v3.3.1540.33 WHQL prepared for XP integration.
