Hi mate, I’m using 2101 bios with 3A microcodes, plus all orom/efi modules updated as well. You don’t need to do a clean install. 3B and 3C microcodes affect any performance on these CPUs,
so I would flash the same (or any other) bios with 3A microcodes. That’s enough IMHO. 
Sylar76 I didn’t explain that well. I am doing a clean install because it has been awhile since I have and after all the installs/uninstalls of software I do…not to mention all the windows updates…it gets pretty mucked up on my PC.
I didn’t understand your phrase of: "3B and 3C microcodes affect any performance on these CPUs" Are you saying that the 3B & 3C microcodes DON’T affect performance on the 5930k?
It has been said that 3C is meltdown/specte batch. There is only affect in that version.
Maybe also 3B? So you wanted to use 3A.
Exactly. 5930k will have performance drops as well as for a broadwell-e cpu with those microcodes (3B-3C or a similar for broadwell-E).
So it’s better to stay with 3A.
Has anyone actually benchmarked the performance hit? From what I gather, everyone is just rehashing theoreticals. Even if it does exist, it could be perhaps 1%, in which case, who cares?

Hi, my cpu 5960x Engineering Sample and i have bios 3504, but update to 3902 and not booting, which version of bios and microcodes is better to use with my cpu?. can update 3902 whith microcode for my cpu?

@itmon I can update 3902 if Syler76 doesn’t want to update these anymore, but since he just replied on here I’m sure he’ll probably do the microcode updates for you.

406F1 (Broadwell-E) has 2E microcodes.
Anyway I’ve added latest cpu microcodes for meltdown/spectre, so anyone is fully protected.
