Yeah Gateway i know… it was picked up by acer and now its looks to be a rebranded Evoo LP8, with different cpu. neither site has the bois for download I’ve emailed both gateway and evoo looking for it. I’ve attached step 1 and didn’t get any errors during step 2.
The BIOS is posted on the laptop support page for the OP-LP1 model (at the Opowered site -NOT overpowered). I can’t post links yet. The chassis is the GK5CN4Z TongFang model.
OK, I understand about getting the error code in order to be able to disable the lock.
I was confused about the Intel ME driver that are supposed to be installed - I just found the file in my system software (meix64), so I have gone ahead and downloaded the v 12 of the ME System Tools from the mega.nz site.
I will follow up after running the FPTw.exe to obtain the BIOS region file and then the error code after running the write back command.
Thanks again for your help.

---------------------------- Hi Lost_n_BIOS,
I am attaching the 7zip compressed biosreg.bin file.
There was NO error when the FPTw.exe program copied the biosreg.bin back. (There was a statement that the GbE Region doesn’t exist; I don’t know whether that is significant.
@stevesr0 - Overpowers = OPowered = same/same, they just renamed their domain to OPowered I suppose, or I never noticed the domain like that, but brand name has always been OverPowered. Please link me to the BIOS Download page for your model. If there is only one HUGE package with all drivers etc, please just upload the entire BIOS package for me, thanks. ME Drivers to install would be listed on your driver download page, or part of the huge driver package. You may already have them installed, check ME FW version how I mentioned and then you will see what ME FW version you have, or not if no drivers Ahh, sounds like you got it figured out, if V12 FPT worked for you
Thanks, I will make you mod BIOS tonight when I have time Before I do, Please show me images of the BIOS areas and things I asked BEERKEEPER for in post #656 - Do you only have single color LED keyboard?
@kohj - It would be nice if either of them will send you BIOS package, but if not, it’s no big deal. Please show me images of the BIOS areas and things I asked BEERKEEPER for in post #656 Do you only have single color LED keyboard?
@BEERKEEPER - Please put those images in a zip as requested, thanks. Do you only have single color LED keyboard? Thanks, yes, if they ever send you BIOS package, please send copy my way, thanks.
@Lost_N_BIOS not sure it i missed anything in 656 but i did steps 1 and 2 with no error on step 2, here are my bios pics and file from step 1. i have a multi color led keyboard that i can change to any color
Also thank you for your help, it rare to find forum help like this
HI @Lost_N_BIOS I feel immensely dumb. Similar to what @KORD_12.7 did, I went ahead and messed with my CPU voltage settings. I got a never ending bootloop with no way of accessing the BIOS. I went ahead and dumped my BIOS chip with the CH341A programmer. Once the chip is back to default, I will use the CH341A to create a backup like I should have done. Thank you
EDIT: I re-read your posts to KORD_12.7 and found that I can do this myself. I simply returned everything back to default options before I started changing options on the modded BIOS. Thank you again for your support. I have a backup now. lol EDIT2: I got post 666 woah
@kohj - Thanks! No error simply means you don’t need to do anything more to be able to flash mod BIOS. It’s a good thing, means BIOS Lock or FPRR etc do not need disabled causing us to have to go through more hoops before we can actually flash mod BIOS in there
Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it very much, and yes, we try to help around here as much as we can when we can! Here’s your unlocked BIOS, flash it back via >> FPTw.exe -bios -f biosregunlock.bin http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…228232271448687
*** WARNING - To ANYONE with laptop and unlocked BIOS!!! DO NOT try to enable this graphics card or disable that card, switch cards etc. Otherwise you will end up with no display output (ie black screen) and no way to recover except by blind flash or with flash programmer. You can change graphics related settings, like changing memory sizes, or core speeds etc, just don’t try to disable one card or change which is main etc. Additionally, be very careful when trying to undervolt CPU, you can leave BIOS unbootable due to CPU voltage too low (Sometimes even 0.05 is too much)
WARNING - This BIOS is user specific! If you are not user kohj at Win-RAID.com forum, DO NOT USE THIS BIOS!! If you do, and you are not kohj, then you will loose your serial, UUID, OG NVRAM, and possibly LAN MAC ID as well. You have been warned!!!
@BEERKEEPER - Thanks for the info on your KB and the images! I wonder why they hide the lighting effects from you in BIOS when it comes with RGB KB?? Maybe to force you to use some bloatware program?
WARNING *** - This BIOS is user specific! If you are not user BEERKEEPER at Win-RAID.com forum, DO NOT USE THIS BIOS!! If you do, and you are not BEERKEEPER, then you will loose your serial, UUID, OG NVRAM, and possibly LAN MAC ID as well. You have been warned!!!
@acters - Sorry to hear you ran into hassles, but happy to hear you were able to fix things yourself! Great work Yes, WOAH *** 666 ***
Awesome, thank you very much for all the time you past on that bios ^^ It’s wonderfull that there’s still some people like you nowaday!!!
And for the keyboard you’re right, there’s asoftware that they wanted me to install, but as i have bought my laptop without NVME and regular SSD to install it by myself (it’s cheaper ;p ) there were nothing
Thanks a lot one more time.
PS: I’ll send you bios package when they will send it to me
@BEERKEEPER - You’re welcome!!! And thank you for the kind words of support! I’m always happy to help others control their BIOS!!
I thought so about the software! In the BIOS, there is three lighting effect options, one if for main/regular runtime, other is for DOS and or sleep I think, and the third one we could never find out (but I don’t remember what system or who tested) But, I only made two visible for you, if you want all three so you can test and try to figure out what the third one is let me know and I will send 2nd edit to make all three visible to you.
OK, yes, please send me BIOS package, if they ever send you one, thanks
(I note that this refers to GK5N4Z5Z, rather than just to GK5N4Z.)
I found your instructions to beekeeper in message #659 rather than #656.
The BIOS images natively are each around 45K. With compression into a zip archive, the total is 115K. When I try to reduce the sizes of the images using Image Magick (reducing pixel count to 200x200, quality to 10%, changing from RGB to grayscale), I can get them down to slightly less than 5k each. BUT, all are not really “readable” images, because they are tiny and when enlarged are very blurry. So if you just want to see the “shape” of each page, but not read the words, they might work.
BUT, you indicated you didn’t want to look at files 2-5 K in size, so I don’t know that these are any good.
Please clarify what size files are you targeting and suggest how I can best reduce these without losing adequate detail.
My computer supports individual lighting for each key.
@stevesr0 - 45kb image is plenty small enough, I just don’t want 2000-5000 px wide images (ie 2-5K) that are 2-5MB per image. That’s what most people insert into threads these days from their cameras or phones Link does not work, can you please rehost that to any free file host, thanks. I get error >> [an error occurred while processing this directive] Sorry about the post # typo!!
@liteon6x _ Yes, if you want! Be sure you use a known compatible software/version for your chip ID, not all software/versions can read/write to all chips properly If you are not sure, and have not erase/wrote to the chip ID used on your system before, tell me the chip ID and I will tell you what I know is compatible.
Also, when you reply, please tell me the brand name and model of this system (above info is Tonfang model only)
When we do FPT dump, it’s BIOS region only (so smaller) When you dump with programmer it will be the full BIOS, all regions, so file will be larger than FPT BIOS region dump
@liteon6x - What do you mean your posts are not being listed? I see both posts above (now merged)? Thanks for the branding info etc - Do you have full stock BIOS package for this model (with BIOS + EC FW + Update tool)? I mean the actual proper BIOS+EC for your exact brand and model?
Not sure what you mean about integrate your BIOS into latest BIOS update? If you mean something like put your board specific info into XMG NEO BIOS, no, that’s not how you need to do that. If you want to use the XMG NEO BIOS, you need to first flash your model over to the XMG BIOS + matching EC FW (both at same time) >> Here. Then you can dump BIOS via Programmer or FPT
For W25Q128JV use ASProgrammer 1.40/1.41 (OK read/write) Or Colibri ver. 1.0.1.62 confirmed read/write OK (use BV ID) Both software in package here - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…213094641136166 I am not sure if 1.4 (Which is 1.31 Free) can read/write to this chip properly. Unless you want to test to confirm, and have some hassles here, best to use what I know works mentioned above, or go FPT route (This is easy)
Do you want me to use your dump above (mybiosdigitalstorm.rar), or do you want to first dump with known compatible software/version I mentioned above?
For the lighting option, I need to see whatever BIOS you are using, images of Advanced top to bottom + lighting effect you can see popped up so I can see the first and last option within it.
@liteon6x - Good you used asprogrammer I need to see top of ADV too, and please resize images to 800-1000 px wide Yes, OK, I will edit your dumped BIOS as-is then
