Hi~ My laptop’s graphics card is RTX 2060.
I have done the two steps which you mentioned. Luckly there are no wrong during the processing.
So, I will send you the FPT BIOS regfion file, Please take care of your receive box~
By the way, I’ll post the screenshot followed with the reply.
Thx!
Please follow directions exactly!! FPT is dangerous tool, and can brick your system in one click, no one mentioned using FPTw64
Is that what you send me in PM? biosreg.bin? If yes, do it again as I mentioned, and send me the new file.
Great to see no locks in place, that makes it much easier for you to flash back in mod BIOS
oops…sorry I don’t read it carefully. So I do it again and this time it must be true.
It was OK before, just trying to be sure everyone always follows directions with FPT, one wrong move can make it all go wrong so you have to be careful.
* Edit - @Ziliang - Please show me image of your “Light Effect” options at BIOS advanced page, so I can see all options you have
Please also send me one image of each of the following pages of the BIOS, this way I can make visible all hidden settings in the original sections I leave in place (Main, Advanced scroll up/down if needed, & Boot)
* Edit 2 - @Ziliang - here’s your mod BIOS
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…701176704365280
Flash it via >> FPTw.exe -bios -f biosregmod.bin
Add Main 2, Adv 2, Chipset, Boot 2, switch Exit/Save&Exit + Unsuppress secondary Light Effect @ OG ADV (And other settings too)
*** WARNING *** - This BIOS is user specific! If you are not user Ziliang at Win-RAID.com forum, DO NOT USE THIS BIOS!!
If you do, and you are not Ziliang, then you will loose your serial, UUID, OG NVRAM, and possibly LAN MAC ID as well.
You have been warned!!!
If you need unlocked BIOS, please make a request and provide your BIOS region dumped by FPT
I know this is a stupid question, but if I do the guide right, I should still retain the hardware-stored Windows serial, right?
EDIT1: Overpowered 17+ is my laptop.
EDIT2: I actually did the unlocking and it worked flawlessly!. I know the answer to my question was probably ‘yes’, but I’m paranoic, lol.
I’d like to THANK YOU a million times Lost_N_Bios for the time and effort spent on making the guide and also for sharing it with us.
I hope you have a wonderful new year, everybody!
Greetings,
I have a 2019 EVOO (formerly known as Overpowered I believe) 15.6" Laptop that uses the Tongfang Chassis, Baseboard: GK5CP6X
Although my Baseboard is not currently listed, I followed along the tutorial as far as possible until I reached a point of divergence, which was at the point where we are comparing UFEITool entries for Setup->PE32 (at which point my Bios has no entry listed for Bios Lock, so I stopped).
I have a copy of the (10mb) biosreg.bin file that I can send to you for possible unlocking, but is there anything else you would like in order to potentially add this unit to the compatibility list? (by "send", I mean send a url link to it in cloud storage)
Also, I would like to mention that I ran into some snags during the tutorial in regards to Admin privileges in windows (probably due to a change in Win10) that you might want to know about to enhance the tutorial with a workaround…if interested let me know and I can expand upon it a bit.
@PhantomR - Sorry I missed your question before you jumped in, but yes, as you’ve seen all is retained and this is the reason you dump your BIOS with FPT and then edit that vs editing stock BIOS
Glad you were able to unlock your BIOS, and thanks for posting back your success report Happy New Year to you and your family as well!
@TheRiddick - Do you have, or can you get, the stock BIOS package with flash tool, EC FW, BIOS image etc? If not, it’s OK, I just like to have if possible, in case someone needs later.
Yes, please send me your biosreg.bin and I will check it. Some BIOS may not have BIOS Lock enabled, but all usually have the setting itself, unless it’s AMD CPU (Then none of this applies, and you can’t use FPT)
Yes, if there is something that needs admin privileges that I didn’t mention let me know and I can add notice in the guide, thanks
Since you have no BIOS Lock seemingly, can you do this without error at step #2?
1. FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin
2. FPTw.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin << If no error here, send me file from #1 - this means you are ready to go (edit/flash ect)
@Lost_N_BIOS :
As it turns out the "Bios Lock" IS in the file…I was just expecting to see it in the righthand panel when I drilled down… But when I searched it did find it (just does not show it, which I noticed is true in the tutorial pics as well face-palm).
Couple of suggestions about the tutorial:
1) It might be better to describe the quick "Bios Lock" search method before the long-drill down method…it might help others newbs like myself… but it really is not a big deal.
2) Possibly mentioning that "Bios Lock" is not actually going to be displayed (even if it is found) would clear up some confusion, but to be fair, this was mostly user error on my part since I should have looked at the images closer and realized that "Bios Lock" is not actually displayed in the right panel in them either.
3) As for the admin issue, I could not run the "FPTw……" command due to getting access denied. My account definitely was setup as an Admin account (though it was created as an offline account, so maybe that had something to do with the issue).
Anyway, I googled and found that issuing the command "net user administrator /active:yes" in a command prompt window should have promoted my Admin account to what is referred to as an "Elevated" Admin account… BUT it did NOT work… So after some hair pulling, I was able to bootstrap myself into granting my account "Elevated" privilege by doing the following:
1) Drag the Command Prompt from Start Menu->Windows System onto the Desktop (creating a shortcut).
2) Right-click on the shortcut
3) Select Run as Administrator (which launches it)
4) Select YES when windows pops up the "Allow this program…?" confirmation window.
5) Finally, issue "net user administrator /active:yes" in THAT command prompt window.
(Yeah, it’s kind of bizarre, but it was the only way that worked for me).
I am a longtime programmer but admittedly a near-total newbie in regards to BIOS, so maybe these suggestions are silly, so take them with a grain of salt…it is a great tutorial overall ! Thanks so much for all the hard work!
Speaking of being a BIOS newbie, I am not sure where I could get the stock bios from… I thought the BiosReg.bin file would BE the stock bios. I just got this laptop and it did not come with driver discs and the support website (from what I have read) is currently a bunch of bad links and "under-construction" text… It seems Overpowered is now called EVOO, but the Overpowered site does not have my laptop’s drivers (LP5) either.
However, If I can get them of my machine some how, just point me at a tutorial and I will certainly give it a shot. Just let me know what to do.
UPDATED: Here is a link to the Locked Firmware outputted using Intel v12 ME Tools:
LINK TO GK5CP6X Locked BiosReg.ini
Thanks Again!
#1 - Please explain, I don’t understand what you mean. Are you saying I should switch some steps? If yes, what #'s should be switched around?
Same for #2, not sure what you mean - BIOS Lock itself is not visible, other than UEFITool search result, as text until you make the IFR output from your extracted setup module
#3 - Yes, this is mentioned, FPTw must be ran from Admin CMD prompt. But, I will update that now, with easier method for those who may have issues on Win10
Admin account has nothing to do with running CMD Prompt as Admin, totally different things now on Win8-10
I will add this, from my now copy/paste "How to FPT"
If you are stuck on Win10 and cannot easily get command prompt, and method I mentioned above does not work for you, here is some links that should help
Or, copy all contents from the Flash Programming Tool \ DOS folder to the root of a USB Bootable disk and do the dump from DOS (FPT.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin)

https://www.windowscentral.com/add-open-…menu-windows-10
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/open-…ator-privileges
Or here is simply registry edit that adds “Open command window here as Administrator” to the right click menu
Double-click to install, reboot after install may be required

** Edit ** - I updated 1 + 1a + 7 per your suggestions, do you think that is better now, or do I still need to change some things?
No, stock BIOS would be a BIOS package from the manufacturer or reseller etc. Anything you dump from the board is not a stock BIOS, this would be used BIOS and contain all your board specific details (Serial, UUID, LAN MAC ID etc), along with dirty/populated NVRAM Areas etc.
“From what you read” Go check yourself Email the company that made it, and the company that sold it to you, one or both may send you BIOS if you bug them enough (Some reply easily and send, others try to act like they can’t give you a BIOS )
Do you want me to unlock your BIOS for you, or did you only need help to unlock BIOS or SMI lock for now? To be able to write back mod BIOS, if BIOS lock is enabled, you have to unlock it first.
What was the outcome of this from post above >>
1. FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin
2. FPTw.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin << If no error here, send me file from #1 - this means you are ready to go (edit/flash ect)
If there is error at #2 above, BIOS Lock or SMI Lock, or both is enabled and you have to unlock it first before you can flash in mod BIOS (and before you send me biosreg.bin to edit, that way it’s unlocked in there already for next time around)
Once you unlock it, then you repeat #1-2 above, if #2 passes, then you send me that file.
Two BTW’s please and thanks, use 7zip,. zp, or rar when sharing files online, and for me, please upload to one of these sites if you send me anything else to look at, thanks
https://uploadfiles.io/
http://tinyupload.com/
https://www.filedropper.com/
Or any other, just can’t download properly from Mega.nz, Google, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, Mediafire
You do not need to re-upload anything now, I have your biosreg.bin file, but you need to send me a new one though if BIOS lock is enabled right now
If you get error at #2, show me an image of what you typed and error on same screen and I will tell you what to do next
@Lost_N_BIOS
Sorry for the confusion:
1. The instructions 1 + 1a + 7 all look great now.
2. Regarding the “Bios Lock” text comment I made, let me try to explain it better:
When I go to the PE32 line and double-click (either thru steps 7 or 7a) the actual text “Bios Lock” is not displayed amoung the fields in the right-hand panel… see Example1.png link below. I just assumed that I would actually see the words “Bios Lock” in the right-hand panel if it was found… but then I noticed that it is not in the right-hand panel in your images either. Example1.png explains it better. In any case, it is a moot point as I was getting ahead of myself because my model is not even in the compatibility list. Therefore, I would not have been able to do the subsequent replace commands in the remaining steps of the tutorial.
3. I misread the Admin Commpand prompt section so that was my bad. However, thee new instructions are very clear and the regedit file is very helpful.
In regards to my progress moving forward:
I did the “FPTw.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin " command and it appears to have suceeeded… I attached an image of the output from the command so you can verify it’s success if desired.
Therefore, you already have the output from " FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin” (It was the file that was in my PM).
So my question is: Is the biosreg.bin file now unlocked and ready to be flashed onto my chip?
(In other words, should I rename biosreg.bin to modbiosreg.bin and run the re-flash command as described at the end of the tutorial, or is there something that you need to do to it first?)

A. Example1.png
B. FPTw.exe. -bios -F biosreg.bin Output
@TheRiddick -
#1 - Thanks, hoped that was better
#2 - Yes, maybe I need to re-write something there still, BIOS lock as text will only be shown in UEFITool if you search for BIOS lock (Then it would be shown as a result on bottom “BIOS Lock found at xxxx”)
You will only see BIOS Lock after extract Setup PE32 and generate an IFR from it, then you will find BIOS Lock among all the other BIOS settings in the IFR. Compatible list is only a list of the models I’ve done so far, and that may even be missing a few still that I’ve done lately.
This in no way is the only possible models the list applies to, some I’ve not done so just not there, others may need little more or less changes, but in general the Advanced part of the guide covers many aspects of All AMI Aptio V BIOS unlocking
Your model can be unlocked, once I do your BIOS I can let you know if you need to follow the guide exactly, or if there is additional changes you need to make etc.
So, sounds like your BIOS Lock was not enabled, good, less hassle for you to write back mod BIOS.
No, the BIOSreg.bin file is simply a dump of your current BIOS region from BIOS, you have to modify it before you flash it back, otherwise your only flashing back BIOS as it is now (so no renaming, you do that once you actually modify the BIOS )
I will unlock your BIOS tonight, and then let you know if you need to do more than the advanced guide shows or not.
Once I do that, do you want me to give you the unlocked BIOS, or only guide you so you can do it yourself?
I have another system I might want to try to unlock (Acer Spin 3) which is a entirely different manufacturer (but does utilize AMI Bios IIRC), so I am unsure if the steps in the tutorial for that one would be the same, similar, or completely different (assuming a tutorial even exists for that one).
So I guess whichever is easier for you. I don’t mind beta-testing the rest of the tutorial (so to speak)…it is certainly the least I can do.
Then again, I might end up taking up more of your time with my newbie questions and issues , so again, totally your call.
My biggest fear is bricking my system, so there is that…
EDIT:
I should also mention that I do not own a CH341A flash programmer nor a SOIC8 test clip cable at this time, but I plan to find and order one (although it’ll probably be 4 to 8 weeks before I see it, lol! Any recommendations on inexpensive sources? (Otherwise I was planning to look on AliExpress for one).
EDIT2: If I did do the unlock, what model would I use for the replace command? (ie:where it says "select the Setup PE32 file included for your versions modified files in the linked package below"… my version is not in the linked package yet…or is that part of what you plan to add tonight?).
@Lost_N_BIOS
Hello. I have a trouble, i will read all threads one more time, but hope on your help. My laptop is OP-LP2 with BIOS XMG 1.09, i did all what in instruction, got edited bios, succesfully flashed it, rebooted and … nothing changed. Why is that? Flashing is precisely was, i got green inscription that flashed.
I noticed in a title XMG-NEO-15-M18-XNE15M18-GK5CN6X when my is GK5CN6Z but that must identical model, i have that bios, or not? https://download.schenker-tech.de/package/xmg_neo15xne15m18/ there is XNE15M18 and that bios what i using.
@shtooka
I believe that your laptop might be an Overpowered Gaming Laptop Model LP-2, in which case all of the drivers (and the original OverPowered BIOS) are located here:
Original Device Drivers and BIOS for OverPowered Gaming Laptop Model LP-2
I realize you may not need the original Overpowered BIOS right now, but never a bad idea to grab a backup copy if it is for your laptop model.
EDIT: Corrected the link as it was going to the LP-3 Model, now it is correct (was only wrong for about 3 minutes).
Hope this helps!
Yeah i know, im just using XMG BIOS+EC. Seems different model files, i will try to unlock from stock bios.
Yes, on stock bios all is working. Thanks to all, problem is solved i can break my laptop, but nothing happens
@TheRiddick - AMI BIOS I can do easily, almost anytime, anything you want Make a thread for that Acer once we’re done here
As for the advanced edit stuff at post one here, that may or may not apply. If it’s Aptio V BIOS, then yes, it would apply, but you may need more/less edits than what I showed here for the AMITSE/SetupData edits, not all are same.
If it’s Aptio IV, then this doesn’t apply, and other methods are used. Same for Pre-Aptio IV (Old BIOS8 type, that only opens with MMTool 3.xx or AMIBCP 3.xx), different for those as well.
Since you do not have a flash programmer, it may be best for me to edit your BIOS then But you can certainly go ahead with the tutorial and see how you progress, then I can check once you are done, if you think you got it done without any issue.
Ebay is where I order cheap wait 3-5 week stuff, $2.4o for CH341A last I looked, and $3.60 for SOIC8 test clip with cable, let me know if you need linked examples
You would not use any of the files in this guide! Sorry, I thought you were looking at the advanced tutorial at the end (in spoiler), this whole time I thought you had looked at that too when you mentioned unlocking yourself.
The part not in spoiler only applies to models listed, those are the only ones that have pre-modified files attached.
Please show me image of your BIOS Advanced >> Lighting Effects (or name off the options you have visible in that setting). Then I can unlock BIOS for you
@shtooka - If you are using XMG GK5CN6Z BIOS then you can only use that models files from the guide (If it exists). I just checked, and your model BIOS is not in the list, only XMG NEO 15 M18 - XNE15M18 - GK5CN6X
However GK5CN6X << That X may mean OK for GK5CN6Z I do not know. If you want to be 100% sure, you have to flash XMG NEO 15 M18 - XNE15M18 - GK5CN6X BIOS first, then the guide will directly apply to your BIOS
Here is a copy of that stock unmodified BIOS - https://ufile.io/ighzuxeu
Be careful, usually if the model name does not match yours, then you can’t use the stock or mod BIOS, since graphics cards differ between these models.
Search in google and see if any GK5CN6Z users mention using GK5CN6X BIOS, if not I would not try it unless you have programmer, you may end up with no dsiplay output (ie black screen and no way to recover without blind flash or flash programmer)
Ideally, I’d tell you to use one of these two BIOS from first post, since they match your original model name GK5CN6Z
Mechrevo - GK5CN6Z >> BIOS_N.1.16
OverPowered - GK5CN6Z >> BIOS_N.1.05
Or, if you want, I can unlock the XMG BIOS you are using, I don’t think it’s the one I’ve already posted in the guide/files at post #1
Actually, I just checked, that is the exact BIOS I unlocked already, so if that stock BIOS works for you, then the mod BIOS should as well, provided you applied the mods correctly and flashed it in.
Make sure you replace all three modules (As-Is in this case)
Okay, will do!
Yeah, I think that would definitely be best!
Here it is (via uploadfiles.io):
Lighting Effects screenshot for GK5CP6X
Thanks again!
@TheRiddick - Here you go - https://ufile.io/4o3r39t8
Flash like so >> FPTw.exe -bios -f biosregmod.bin
*** WARNING *** - This BIOS is user specific! If you are not user TheRiddick at Win-RAID.com forum, DO NOT USE THIS BIOS!!
If you do, and you are not TheRiddick, then you will loose your serial, UUID, OG NVRAM, and possibly LAN MAC ID as well.
You have been warned!!!
If you need unlocked BIOS, please make a request and provide your BIOS region dumped by FPT
Thanks, I just installed it and everything looks good.
Oddly I think I can hear the fans running more now, but not sure if that is just my imagination, LOL!
…and now they just quieted down… ha! it was my imagination/paranoia!
A few questions:
1) Is it okay to switch back and forth between the locked and unlocked BIOSes?
2) Is there a limit to the write cycles that the BIOS can handle? (probably never reach it, but it never hurts to know)
3) I assume any changes made in the unlocked BIOS will be lost if I re-flash the locked BIOS, correct?
It is very exciting and scary to have so much access to the BIOS, I shall endeavor to tread ever so lightly (and take lots of pictures!)
(Paranoia can be a good thing, lol! )
I checked the manufacturer (EVOO aka Evooproducts.com) website and it is coming along, but their "contact us" link currently goes nowhere.
I will try to hit them up after the holiday slam to see about getting the stock unmodified BIOS
(BTW, Does it have a particular technical name that I should ask for… or is it just called "Stock Bios"?)
@TheRiddick - Placebo worry effect probably Thanks for quick test and report back
1. - Yes, you could flash back and forth, but there is no need to do that, and any time you flash BIOS you risk bricking BIOS.
Even with stock BIOS, and stock flash method, any/all BIOS flash risk brick, it’s rare, but it happens, so ideally only flash when there is a reason
If you are concerned there is so many settings, and want to go back to stock for that reason, close your eyes, or quit looking deep in there, then that feeling will go away
2. Yes, but I’m not sure what that limit is, it may say in the specs for your BIOS chip if you look up it’s ID and get the PDF. Yes, you are correct, probably you would never reach it anyway, but there is a limit, they do wear out.
3. Yes, and any time you flash BIOS you should load optimal defaults right after you flash, save and exit, reboot back to BIOS to then make any changes you want before you boot to windows
They are lazy, and don’t want to deal with emails, hopefully they’ll make it live soon!
No, just ask them for the latest BIOS-EC-FW Update package, they know what it is you want and need
WARNING - To ANYONE with laptop and unlocked BIOS!!!
DO NOT try to enable this graphics card or disable that card, switch cards etc. Otherwise you will end up with no display output (ie black screen) and no way to recover except by blind flash or with flash programmer.
You can change graphics related settings, like changing memory sizes, or core speeds etc, just don’t try to disable one card or change which is main etc.
