I am facing issues while dumping the BIOS via AFUWIN secure flash error. So i want some solutions by which i can dump my BIOS and modify that same dumped BIOS and write it back
Edit by Fernando: Thread moved into the “BIOS Modding Problems” Category and title customized
Use a hardware programmer (e.g. CH341A)
without programmer is there any other way for it ??
@0xfresher
Have you ever done a view into the initial post of >this< thread?
In UBU only i can dump ?? how to flash it back again
@0xfresher
The UBU tool can only modify a BIOS, but for the flashing procedure you will have to use the Asus USB Flashback feature. Look into the previously linked Guide and into the manual of your mainboard.
@Fernando
But my goal is to dump the BIOS and BIOS Flashback only allows .CAP and size should be same. So i need to dump my bios and mod that exact dumped bios and flash it back.
Users with modern AMD platform and modern Aptio V bioses will have 2 options, AMI tools (AFUWIN/DOS/EFI) or CH341A device or similar one.
Since this motherboard has USB BFB feature, as previously mentioned by Fernando, the files on Asus support model should be able to mod (unCAP bios_region and merged back) and flash back using the same feature, as in past models.
Any security settings in bios/windows should be disable to prevent issues using AMI tools.
Behaviour of some tools in some 32/64Mb system bios is unpredictable on some mb models/multiple ICs and/or not making a full image backup as some users think it will, leading to SPI programmer as last resource for dumping.
@MeatWar @Fernando
What if i remove the AmdSpiRomProtectDxe ??
Not worked
Error: Problem erasing flash. AFUWIN latest
AFUWIN for backups, no one told you to use this tool to flash mods as was expected to fail.
Only irresponsible users will try any flash of a mod file without a proper backup…
Unbelievable… only POS in these “heads”… the “brains” are just there cause they’re supposed to be…
yeah if i m using AFUWIN for backup of course but it gives me without capsule attached so BFB feature is rejecting that dumped/modified bios even after using the bios renamer @MeatWar @Fernando
Oh and who told you that a backup made with AFU can later be enCAPSULATED again…?
Backup for safekeeping the system board data, ASUS cap file for mod, USB BFB for flashing mod…this is an AMD platform not Intel.
Seems i’m writing but words only cab understood by “aliens”…what did i mentioned in previous posts…
IM OUT of this noobish and we dont “tampered” with changed original board data for online games block.
I am modifying some DMI related data which can’t be found in a stock BIOS then how could i do that thing ?? @MeatWar
@MeatWar @Fernando
I am trying to change the serial number and uuid of my motherboard but Asus motherboards have security that it reinitializes the DMI upon each boot so even if the serial changes it reverts upon restart, for preventing it we have to dump the bios search the serials in HXD and change them from root so that it identifies them like original but here’s the catch in my case my motherboard so yeah now tell me how can i find my serial on a stock BIOS are you crazy ?? So of course i have to dump the BIOS and modify that same dumped BIOS and flash it back and this is the goal
@MeatWar So there is no way without programmer ??
