[Problem] GA-Z87X-UD3H BIOS with TPM 2.0 Support

First of all, sorry for my low english level.

So, I wanted to install Windows 11 on a Z87X-UD3H motherboard PC. To do so, I know that I need a TPM 2.0 device. I bought this one:

Searched in a couple posts on forums and find this one that “in theory” is the official from Gigabyte and the better option.

After the package arrived, I plugged the TPM and enabled on Trusted Computing → Security Device Support (the only option clickable on that menu). Then restarted and when I executed Win + R → tpm.msc it doesn’t showed anything.

Then, I found this post on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/rq2b0x/tpm_20_module_on_gigabyte_z87xud3h_motherboard/

Right there I found a guy who “apparently” made it work with a BIOS version not visible in the official website (F11a). Because my BIOS version was F9 and F10b apparently doesn’t work, I found a modded version F11c of my BIOS on this post:

https(deletethis)://winraid.level1techs.com/t/offer-various-mod-ga-z87x-ud3h-bioses-incl-nvme-microcode/32423/44

I thought for a moment that this version, apparently superior to F11a, would work, but after installing it and enabling that option it still doesn’t work. Any ideas?? : (

I’m probably going to send a ticket to Gigabyte support after writing this post.

Hello there. If understand you correctly, you want to install Win11 the regular way and purchased the TPM-module because it’s mandatory for Win11?

The problem is your CPU isn’t supported by Win11. MS just randomly set a certain generation of CPUs from AMD and Intel as requirement (generally 8th gen Intel Core i and Ryzen 2000) and you need to have both, a supported CPU and TPM to install Win11 the regular way. TPM alone isn’t enough.

Fortunately, there always have been workarounds allowing installation on any not supported system. MS regularly blocks some of these workarounds, so you’ll have to google what works at the moment. I successfully installed Win11 on an HP 255 G6 with AMD A6-9220 last year and on an HP 17-bs000 with Celeron N3060 recently. I still have my GA-Z87X-UD3H-system, but don’t use it at the moment.

However, all workarounds disable both the CPU-requirement and TPM-requirement, so you don’t need the TPM-module at all. If you can still return it, I would advise to do so.

Thanks for answering me dude! I’m gonna be honest. I need the TPM module just because in Windows 11 Vanguard doesn’t work if you don’t have TPM 2.0.

I used to have Windows 11 on my computer installed by the tricky way, knowing that the CPU is not compatible, but since LoL introduced Vanguard I downgraded my computer so I would not have any problem with it.

So that’s because I’m searching for a way to make work the TPM module. Let me know if you know how to : ) . And again, thanks for answering.

There are no advanced/security technologies present in that processor.
Bios is prepared for TPM1.2, it’s not prepared for working as with module as discrete TPM 2.0 device/functions.
