Basically, I unlocked the hidden BIOS menu and found the “BIOS Lock” option, but it’s enabled by default and I can’t disable it. Using setup_var doesn’t work either.
My only option seems to be flashing the BIOS firmware using a programmer. However, when I try flashing the BIOS with FPT, I get the error: Error 368: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space. FPT Operation Failed.
Actually, I used CoffeeTime to unlock the FD write access, but it didn’t help much. Searches indicate that this error is due to BIOS write protection. In the UEFI Setup volume, I found the offset for “BIOS Lock,” and I also discovered the “BIOS Lock” option in a hidden menu after unlocking. However, after switching this option to disabled, saving the settings, and rebooting, I checked the BIOS options, and “BIOS Lock” was still enabled. Using setup_var to set the variable at the offset address for “BIOS Lock” didn’t work either; after rebooting, this setting reverted back to enabled.
