Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading up these forums every night and while there aren’t too many people still with a Z370, those I stumbled on seem to have had great success (…without going in detail) about their steps.
I wanted to know if it’s possible to mod a Z370 to either:
-
do something where it’ll take a stronger processor (like i5-7 10-12th gen, or really anything better than my current i5-8400). I do know this also depends somewhat on the processor LGA (11xx) or something, but even then I’ve heard this particular model was kind of the the middle of being a “recipient” to quite more than Intel let on…
I think this is a listing of the actual hpysical Mobo, but can’t be sure as it’s made by Dell d/b/a Alienware – Amazon.com: Desktop Motherboard VDT73 0VDT73 CN-0VDT73 Compatible Replacement Spare Part for Dell Alienware Aurora R7 Series Intel Chipset Z370 Socket LGA1151Desktop Motherboard VDT73 0VDT73 CN-0VDT73 Compatible : Electronics. -
Tune it some way as the OC is greyed out in both BIOS and the App won’t install (my processor isn’t a K or something). I do know that this also depends on
-
get reBar on it to help accommodate my GPU (2060 RTX OC).
One thing I was successful at is changing the hexadominal value for the “lock” that put the grey’ed out OC string in my Bios. But even after doing that, no dice about any other options so not sure if I didn’t do everything I had do.
I am very sharp and will follow any instructions followed. But after being on the sidelines for so long without a favorable resolution, I wanted to go ahead and ask myself.
Thank you in advance,
Please let me know how I can help
