[Request] Datron PL5C AL-096 Notebook BIOS

Hello friends,

I would like to know if there is any Bios update for an old laptop i have.

It is a Datron PL5C AL-096 Notebook.

Bios manufacturer Phoenix Technologies.

Bios revision: q3b71

CPU: genuine intel cpu t2130

Can someone help me to understand the procedure of updating Bios?

Thank you in advance,

Greetings,

Ioannis

When these laptops are sub-branded, it’s hard to find such files or new ones, even worse to such older model (Yonah).

If the board number matches DA0PL5MB6B0, then…
Bios Packard Bell EasyNote MZ36 PL5 ARGO C2 maybe be a solution, but it may need a cross flash with a programmer.

Hi MeatWar,

And thank you very much for your reply.

The information i have for motherboard is

Manufacturer:ATI

Product Name:Bonefish

Version:2

Serial number: QTFBMR73909263.

Is that helping?

Thank you again,

Ioannis

No really… this mb model is used across several sub brands laptops and countrys…besides Packard Bell.

Hello MeatWar,

I confirm the board number matches with DA0PL5MB6B0.

It´s true i also saw about MZ35/36 compatibility.

What do you mean with may need a cross flash?

I find in another similar page, there is an old topic about the same motherboard.

There are takking about PL5C AL-096 with a Phoenix BIOS ver. Q3B71.

That´s the same as mine.

Then they are talking about this other model PL5C / AL-096 (Packard Bell Easynote MZ35/36)
-Bios Type : Phoenix
-Bios Revision : Q3C11.

That Q3B71 seems to be a previous revision of that later one Q3C11.

In that page they have the Bios image update and also modified.

I have seen there are people modifying the Bios menus to unblock properties.

I am not an expert of the Bios update/modify.

But i would like to give a try with this old pc i have.

I know there is a brick possibility.

Could you please guide me somehow, which would be the steps for me to follow in order to update this Bios?

Thank you very much again for your attention and help,

Greetings,

Ioannis.

When some OEMs drop updating their products, some users will try to program bios for the same motherboard from other vendors, this is done with an IC SPI programmer and requires a bit of skill/knowlodge, we are not talking of regular bios flash updates here, if you dont have these skills…just forget it.
