[REQUEST]Gigabyte Aourus Z390 Master Disable HPET

Thanks for trying. I can see what IOL Offsets are set to via Asrock Timing Configurator 4.0.4.

Thanks for the info on the Asrock thing, I will check it out. In AIDA64, I thought I saw IOL, but I guess it’s something else, if you say you can actually change IOL and see the change reflected in windows
What I was looking at in AIDA64 that I thought was maybe IOL never changed >> tIOL (I/O Latency) I think what I was seeing in AIDA64 was IOL as shown in that Asrock tool, not IOL Offset. I will check it now and let you know
* Yes, IOL Offset is not what I was seeing in AIDA64, AND this setting is not contained in these BIOS (anywhere)

** - I even tested enhanced, normal, relaxed and several of the other options right there, to see if maybe one of them in Auto caused a bug, no changes
So, I think when they redid these new BIOS for “enhanced layout” they broke something that tied this setting to the correct item that would normally update it as you change it.
A lot of what and how they redid the menu is abnormal, so I’m not surprised there is issues aside from the bugs I found. This probably explains why they haven’t fixed it yet too, too scared to go back to the original BIOS layout.
Have you tested very early BIOS on the original BIOS style/layout, before “BIOS Structure refresh”? I bet RTL works properly in those BIOS, unless they broke it before that too
I will test old BIOS on my end and see if I can confirm this theory I can only test as far back as F5 on my board, without editing BIOS to support my CPU, so I’ll test that one at least.

* Edit 99 - Nope, F5 BIOS = same for me. So they broke it before this at least, or maybe never had it working. So the refresh isn’t part of the issue, unless some behind the scene changes right before structure refresh, at least on F5 for my model.
Don’t want to waste time updating older BIOS and possible fail and have to recover via programmer, if I had other CPU compatible with older BIOS I would test down to F1

  • Disable ACPI Autoconfiguration
    * Disable S3 Suspend
    * Disable hibernate
    * Disable TCO Timer/watchdog
    * Disable ICC watchdog
    * Disable Acpi/ASF watchdog (dont remember which)
    * Enable PCI Latency Optimization and MSI, should be same place. (and MSI-X if it exist as option of intterrupts)
    * Serial Intterrupts = Quiet, not "continious" or whatever it may say
    * Enable DSP for sound chip in Audo options.
    * Enable I2S -mode for sound
    * Set Codec to Realtek one, dont remember the numbers.
    * Enable C6RAM (CPU)
    * Set edRAM to HW-mode
    * Enable GNA Device
    * Enable DMIC [0] and [1] under advanced audio settings.
    * Enable SWND #2, same menu as above
    * Disable WakeonVoice(WoV) (sound)
    * Disable HyperThreading (CPU) - i dont want it nor do I have it.
    * Use base of last one again, with HPET hard-disabled as usual.
    * All OPROM Video settings leave default but please enable the OPROM

    I cannot get the curent oprom to show my pcie raid even if deeting the array first. If possible, do the changes above, they are concise and they are precise as I have seen them before in AMIBCP (but they dont make it work nessecarily). If you feel theres something I need to set in bios regarding the oprom to show the pcie devices (with or without remapping to manual/auto).

    Do as many as the ones in the list atleast, dont care about if you cant get one or two to work…

@Lost_N_BIOS Can you fix the above? Atleast most of them. If you cannot figure something out from the list, skip it.

@petterkkk - I can change anything you gave me name for, but that is huge list so it takes time to do one by one, plus I am always buried here so always behind.
Sorry I’ve not had time to do this yet, and still some of that is not how I preferred you give me a list example >> Enable PCI Latency Optimization and MSI, should be same place. (and MSI-X if it exist as option of intterrupts) << “If exists”, and “should be same place”??
You are supposed to be looking at an exact list of settings, so there should be no “If exists”, and “should be same place”, if you don’t see it I wont either (you can use search on text file, if you can’t find it then it’s not there) and should be same place… you’d see if it was there, if not don’t mention.

Sorry, I’m not trying to be rude at all, but what you ask, and the length of your requested edits is huge, so I’d prefer (as I’ve been asking for weeks now) if you give me exact list and exact changes,.
This is because each one has to be edited one by one, by hand, in multiple BIOS modules (5 different modules to be exact), so my edit list is 5x what you give me, and if not exact that’s a major pain

Looking again, this makes no sense to me either, which I think I said before and ask you clarify and or change/be exact >> All OPROM Video settings leave default but please enable the OPROM << You can enable./disable this in non-edited BIOS, so to me I see no reason for this to be in list/mentioned etc.
Same for Hyperthreading, if your CPU has it you will be able to enable/disable, otherwise it’s disabled and hidden from you.

Set Codec to Realtek one, dont remember the numbers. << not specific/exact
Serial Intterrupts = Quiet, not “continious” or whatever it may say << Same ^^
* Disable Acpi/ASF watchdog (dont remember which) << ^^ Same ^^
* Disable TCO Timer/watchdog << TCO Timer is a setting, no watchdog here so why mention watchdog

I can do all this, that’s not a problem, but I’d really prefer if you give me a 100% accurate and exact list of every single settging you want changed, one by one (no “and this too”) and exact value you want it changed to.

Ok, sorry for that - but there is a setting in amibcp "Enable IRSTe" called "Raid Client ID:", "Client" or "Alternate" when extracting the BIOS-setup, I can see it calledthat way… Does it change from devid 8086x2822 → 8086x2826/7?

I will try some more to fix this myself, but support would be great :slight_smile:

Great, you are looking in AMIBCP, even better than text, so you can give me exact name and location easily, this is format that would be easiest for me to use >>

1. @ Advanced >> RST >> Setting name >> Change to xxx value
2. @ Boot >> Setting Name >> Change to xx value

RSTe was not even in your list, what are we talking about RSTe for now? Sorry, I don’t know about RSTe, thats a question best for Fernando to answer. RSTe may or may not even be in your BIOS (rom-wise I mean, we may have to add/swap etc, if you wanted to use RSTe vs RST)
Doesn’t AMIBCP Help text show you any info for this setting? Sorry, I’m not in AMIBCP right now and you didn’t say location of what you are looking at so I’d have to dig around and maybe find same one you are talking about, maybe not same etc.
Generally, to answer what you asked, no, that is changed via hex in the rom module itself and would have to match the chip (Device) on your board or it would fail to load due to device >> ID Mis-match. ie this is not something you can change
I took the time to try and find what setting you are looking at in AMIBCP, so I could tell you what the help file info said, but I can’t find… So, as you can see, this is why I prefer 100% exact names, and locations etc for ALL things you want edited

Also, once you redo the list, please give me exact # of the post here, which contains the BIOS you want me to use as base (since I’ve made a few for you I think)
And, I remind you also, many of these things you can probably also access in your BIOS right now, and set however you want, via bug #1 or #2 outlined here - [OFFER] Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming UPD + Completely Revised Blue Theme

I’m here to help! Just waiting for you to give me something better to work with is all

Because of PCIe remapped SATA devices (m2 nvme) disks not showing up in oprom …so I cannot boot.

RSTe_VROC = Intel Virtual Raid on CPU (which I also can enable)
RSTe = Enterprise

Just going to create a nice base for you, with some settings enabled like I want them first, then you can use that as template?

------------------------------------

https://ufile.io/uzjish0g

Sounds like you messed something up, booting from NVME on native NVME enabled items is never an issue, unless you play with settings you shouldn’t, otherwise go to the boot section and move disk/NVME you want to boot to up to the top of the bootable device list
Yes, I know what RSTe and vROC are???

No, I can’t use any edited BIOS as base to do what you asked me to do, please make a list how I mentioned

What is the latest right now? I see it appears F11C is ? Or is your version F11E newer?

My MB is supposed to have Q-flash plus, but I cant get it to work. It says right here, https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/M…90-features.pdf what I should do , and the manual I have says not the same but almost, jut a difference in naming of the bios file. Any help?

@petterkkk - Are you using correct USB Port, USB 2.0 stick, formatted to FAT32, and put STOCK BIOS renamed to Gigabyte.bin on ROOT of USB (not in folder)?
If yes, try another smaller USB Stick, smaller usually better 128MB-2GB

Did never work… Returned it,and got an MSI MPG Z390 Pro Gaming Carbon AC. Can you disable hpet on this, you think?

@petterkkk - yes, I can make visible for you via chipset add into OC section, or just set to disabled by default (which is a MUCH easier edit)
Please make a thread and I can help

Can anyone plz upload hpet disabled bios for z390 aorus master?Link is expired…
https://ufile.io/ne2xjyz6

-----------------------

Is it possible to reupload the hpet disabled bios for z390 aorus master plz ? @Lost_N_BIOS
https://ufile.io/ne2xjyz6

While we’re at it, is it possible to upload an HPET-disabled BIOS flash for the Z390 AORUS PRO as well? I believe this is causing severe microstuttering in all games for me - disabling via cmd/device manager is insufficient.

If someone has a guide on QFLASH as well so I can reflash my BIOS safely, that’d be awesome if they can link that too!

Thank you @Lost_n_bios and anyone else who can help!

@Gevobo - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…553594289260954

@xxashyy - Qflash is easy, Have BIOS on USB stick, formatted to FAT32 and leave it installed. Then reboot and you either push END at startup instead of DEL to enter BIOS, or while in BIOS press F8 to enter Qflash.
Once in Qflash navigate to the BIOS file and select then flash, if asked choose intact/Full.

@Lost_N_BIOS none of the links work anymore can someone link me 10 with hpet hard disabled please I cant find anywhere.

@Veloceqc - Thanks for reporting!
Please tell me what post # you need BIOS from, and I will replace the links with working new ones

@Lost_N_BIOS I dont exactly know cause convo was kinda hard to follow but z390 aorus master hpet disabled also does the master have power down mode for ram enabled or disabled by default?
