I’m new to this forum, so forgive me for anything that may come across as ignorant or rude. My request is for a Bios Mod on the XI Gene that removes the Spectre/Meltdown microcode for the purpose of system performance and latency. I know it is a miniature improvement, though something I would like to have a on a system I am squeezing every last frame out of. Though I am not allowed to post links, as I am a new user, I can say the bios download link can be found in the first result typing “XI GENE BIOS” into Google. Even if just a tutorial on how to go about stripping the microcode, I would be very grateful. Thanks all :’)
Edit: CPU is 9700K
Bump. Looks like nobody here currently knows how to modify this bios.
@markzuckerberg8000 Unfortunately there are no pre-spectre microcodes for the 9700K.
9700K (S-spec SRELT) CPUID 906EC P0 revision has hardware fixes (in-silicon) for;
Meltdown v3 (Rogue Data Cache Load)
Foreshadow (L1 Terminal Fault)
RIDL MFBDS (Microarchitectural Fill Buffer Data Sampling)
And the earliest microcode is cpu906EC_plat22_ver00000084_2018-02-19_PRD_F3514131.bin which patches Spectre V2.
9700K (S-spec SRG15) CPUID 906ED R0 revision has hardware fixes (in-silicon) for;
Meltdown v3 (Rogue Data Cache Load)
Foreshadow (L1 Terminal Fault)
RIDL MFBDS (Microarchitectural Fill Buffer Data Sampling)
Spectre v2 (Branch Target Injection)
Fallout MSBDS (Microarchitectural Store Buffer Data Sampling)
MLPDS (Microarchitectural Load Port Data Sampling)
MDSUM (Microarchitectural Sampling Uncacheable Memory AKA ‘Zombieload’)
And the earliest microcode is cpu906ED_plat22_ver000000AA_2018-11-29_PRD_05A0A797.bin which patches Spectre V2 and other vulnerabilities.
