[Request] NVMe/AHCI PCIe mod GA-F2A88X-D3H BIOS

I was told that the vBIOS insert only worked on the beta BIOS (F3g, not the F2). So adding it to the F7 BIOS might not work for this board either.

Edit: Support responded in an hour, saying the board is EOL, therefore beta BIOSes are no longer available…

You could ask them again similiarly (just paraphrase the similiar words).

Gigabyte might have beta BIOSes that they never published, but might share upon request.

They do actually, last time i asked for H77-DS3H and Z77-DS3H beta bios for an updated secure boot key, they gave me that, even with native nvme support (tho it is a bit broken at stock bios idk why). I had to ask 3 times of the same thing, only paraphrased between the next 2 replies, and they kept saying “we don’t have the resources anymore”, but 3rd time’s a charm, they gave me a new beta .

Or just point out that beta BIOSes have been shared for EOL products before and politely ask if they could check. There’s no way they actually looked after a response so quick.

I flashed the BIOS, board is brick. It shows the boot logo with the A10-7700K and that’s it. With the A8-7680, it’s just blank and the fans spin at 100%. Recovery didn’t work.

I think that BIOS should be removed from the thread before anyone else downloads it.

Edit: As a last-ditch effort, I threw in the X4 845, same as with the A10-7700K, logo and freeze. Shorting the pins on the flash chip didn’t work either.

Did you perform a full dump on main bios IC, before the flash mod?
If so, do you have a cheap CH341A available?
Last resource, programming the Gigabyte update bios file.

Thanks, that was suggested to me, but I don’t have a CH341A and I already spent too many hours on this motherboard over the years.

I had also the Problem mit my F2A88X-D3H boot from a PCIE-M2-NVME-Adapter. I build with the EFI-Tool a new BIOS (F9) with NVME-Support.
I use it without Problems. My Debian runs smooth.

I can confirm this bios A88XMD3H_NVME.F9 does flash without problems allowing the NVMe storage, via VANTEC M.2 NVME + M.2 SATA SSD adapter, to be set as boot drive.

Then install OS as normal and boot off that NVMe storage.

Hope can get NVMe BIOS for two other motherboards:

Asrock FM2A88x-ITX+
ASUSTeK A88XM-A

Nice to have NVMe support for these old boards.

This is a BIOS Modding Request thread, which may be helpful for users of a Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H mainboard, who want to get NVMe Boot Support. Nobody, who may benefit from your modded ASRock and ASUSTek mainboard BIOSes (maybe except @rjd) will find it within this thread.
If you want to OFFER already modded BIOSes for any other mainboard, you should better start new threads within the “BIOS Modding Offers” Category.
