It’s better to buy and SPI Programmer CH341A + Pomona Clinp to be sure to recovery your system !

E7735IMSNVMe.zip (8 MB)
From MSI forum admin, MTools in the bios cannot flash 4.8 BIOS for x79a GD65.
If you have one more BiOS left, you can rescue bad bios follow my thread here:
Hello guys!
Ive been searching for this bios mod for a very long time and came across to your forum.
I’m also on X79A-GD65 (8D) and updated the bios with the 7760v48 NVME Mod.rar
The systems boots normally with no problem at all… but! still the system doesn’t recognise any new drives and i tried with 2 different nvme’s.
Do we have any update or any working bios for this old mobo for us the pour guys?
Thank you in advanced!
So Currently the latest MOD file has the NvmExpressDxe_4 entry:
File GUID: 5BE3BDF4-53CF-46A3-A6A9-73C34A6E5EE3
Type: 07h
Attributes: 40h
Full size: 5160h (20832)
Header size: 18h (24)
Body size: 5148h (20808)
State: F8h
Header checksum: 90h
Data checksum: F2h
On the tutorial on the forum there are 2 new files for the MOD:
- NvmExpressDxe_5.ffs
- NvmExpressDxe_Small.ffs
Today i am going to try these 2 mods to see if i can manage to see the new nvme drive and tell you the results.
Though i have a question for the people that managed to make the nvme work. Did you do any changes on the bios settings that i might i am unaware off?
@TeSLaGR
Welcome to the Win-Raid Forum!
- The NVMe modules, which were and are offered within this Forum, differ regarding their size, but not regarding their functionality.
- To be able to benefit from the inserted NVMe module, you have to allow booting in UEFI mode within the BIOS settings (best option: CSM disabled).
Good luck!
Hello @Fernando and thank you for the all the work you are doing here.
Unfortunately i tried so many changes in the BIOS settings and still didnt manage to see the drive (Its set to UEFI mode, i dont have a CSM option but i have read that enabling UEFI kind of disables CSM).
I tried also to make a new BIOS mod file adding the “NvmExpressDxe_5.ffs”
This is the new file: E7760IMS
It boots correctly with no problem at all but still can’t see the drive.
I purchased a new m.2 pcie adaptor to check in case that is the problem.
So your booting with your old disk (HDD/SSD)?
If so, in windows if no new NVMe disk is seen as new storage device, the issue is the disk or adapter.
If the mod is correctly done and no CMS menu to select but system is default UEFI environment (CSM OFF and no AUTO) then a USB EFI x64 OS install should kick in, if not mod is incorrect or bios settings are not PURE UEFI environment.
New NVMe disks are only seen when they have a boot entry created by OS install, till then this old boards can only see it with CSM ON(Legacy) as a PATA device and only for testing the mod, usually…it may differ across models.
When installing the new OS you have to remove/disconnect all other disks and just have the NVMe on the adapter, else the boot partition is created in the old OS disk.
