I replaced my laptop’s i5-4210m (37W) cpu with an i7-4800mq (47W). However, an unexpected problem was that the BIOS was locked to 37W. Whenever the new cpu tried to exceed 37W and reach 47W, the motherboard immediately cut the voltage.
System Information:
-
Laptop Model: Pegatron C15B (OEM)
-
CPU: Intel Core i7-4800MQ
-
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 840M (2GB, soldered)
-
BIOS Vendor: AMI Aptio IV (bios chip: Winbond W25Q16BV)
-
BIOS Version: v703 (latest, from manufacturer website: BIOS File)
-
BIOS Lock Status: currently locked (no advanced options visible)
Changes I Want:
-
Unlock TDP / PL1–PL2 Power Limits from 37W to 47–57W (currently locked to 37 W)
-
Current Limit / ICCMAX unlock /Remove Power/EDP Current Throttling limits
-
Thermal Throttling thresholds (Trip Points)
-
Unlock Advanced/Power/Overclock tabs & Advanced Menu Visibility
-
Fan Control tab unlock (if exists)
My goal:
-
allow full performance of i7-4800MQ (47 W) and better thermal tuning.
-
Power adapter upgraded to 150–180 W.
-
Cooling system modified.
-
I’m aware of the risks (I’m going to buy CH341A programmer + clip).
-
I can reflash BIOS if necessary.
Please help with an unlocked or modded BIOS that removes the 37W power cap and allows full control of PL1/PL2 or TDP settings.
