[Request] Unlock advanced menu on 2019 Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-52

@ HYPPO
OH BTW i have just blown your score away ! sorry mate :slight_smile:

Iam speech less : 4096 PL1 - 4096 PL 2 - 36700016

It manage to run fully @ 4.1 ghz for 40Sec and then 3.7 ghz before was 2.9 - 3.1 ! :slight_smile:

Omg ! bye bye XEON 24 threads !

OC Scanner is quite good :slight_smile:

do it hyppo you download EVGA precision X and search for this tab with the arrow on right hand and launch scan (15 mins)

better voltages, better performance, better thermal …

Nice achievement on graphic card
Will tweak mine

Regarding Cinebench, it’s very useful benchmark especially in loop
You can create bat file to run it 13 times

for /l %%x in (1, 1, 13) do (
“C:\User\Programs\Cinebench R15\CINEBENCH Windows 64 Bit.exe” -cb_cpux >>“C:\Users\User1\Desktop\CB15.txt”
)
pause

In R15 multithreaded, I had 1309 maximum and 1280 average, this is very high score on top of all 9750H and close to the worst implementations of 9880H))

Maybe I can set minimums in NVRAM, did we try yet? If there is a fan setting at all in BIOS (Hidden or not), it should be possible there
If we have not tried yet, someone send me FPT BIOS region dump (Or programmer dump if FPT write is not possible here, I forget)

Yep @Lost_N_BIOS there are couple screens in bios related to the fans control

but nothing of them working, I guess this is some obsolete inherited default settings and its control is overtaken by EC
And anyway there is only one fan while laptop has two

There is also some monitoring screen showing always zeroes

I think that this is the EC chip

It’s ITE IT8987E

and its data sheet
http://www.datasheetcafe.com/it8987e-dat…pdf-controller/

Image one settings do not apply (first setting disables all the rest) There is 2-3 ways you can control thermals there in that area, first image you disabled that way, so you must have one of the others enabled instead (DPTF or other etc)
Second image, I can’t tell, do you have that control method enabled?

@Lost_N_BIOS here is flash programmer dump of stock bios 1.08
https://www.sendspace.com/file/75bpgf

And here is flash programmer dump of another 1Mb IC in soic8 package
https://www.sendspace.com/file/ux1zj5
which I initially wrongly took as a bios
You already checked this too and said there is some videocard stuff and nothing similar to fan table, just in case

@Lost_N_BIOS @mikolaj612
I created new thread devoted to EC hacking
Revealing EC on Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 PH315-52 (fan control)

@Lost_N_BIOS

Mate would you be so kindly to help me again?
After using your unlocked bios my Intel ME firmware is fucked up :frowning:
There is no ME device, TPM is lost - ME Info app show me an error, after returning back to stock there is still no ME - is there exist any method to return it back? Just for to be sure that I could be 100% vanilla.

I’m glad to know you’ve find a way to unlock the bios options without a flash programmer!
My laptop is currently on bios version 1.06. Is there any advantage in upgrading to the latest version 1.08 before following the instructions and submit my vars file then reflash the modified bios?

Thanks again @Lost_N_BIOS !!

better LCD support …

Acer said that i got no clue …
if u dont care stick with the 1.06

@Valantur
I don’t know why you need unlocked bios)) Only if you want to set custom frequency and timings at memory. Or maybe to set numlock to ON on the boot)
All other useful settings will be overwritten by EC
Increase PL to 56W, undervolt more or control fans you can do all that without unlocking

keep in touch my men for the fan control iam interrested and if you find a way to PLL1 to 76W/80W constantly i will call you gods …
If power supply cant handlle it i dont give a damn i got a battery …
battery + power supply equals 240W ++

why we can’t get control over this EC or modify fan table

maybe we have not fully unlocked bios?))

There might be some chips inside that PredatorSense is controling over I2C or other method and it’s controling fans directly.

Well fan control via fan curve table works the same way even without windows intsalled so it’s somewhere in hardware

The only thing brought with windows is a possibility to set custom fan speed, somehow it works skipping EC but to hack it we need to decompile dll from PS)

must be in device.dll in PS folder

@Hyppo

Dude work on it if you know how to :wink:

will forward to developers team
it’s their job in the end)

I wonder why copyright of this dll is by AMD

Hi @Lost_N_BIOS

If I provide you my 16MB dump of BIOS taken directly from EEPROM chip you still be able to unlock it?
I had Intel ME issue that disabled my TPM device so I had to fix it (was kinda difficult - but I manage to fix it) - after I fix my issue I dumped my bios with SPI flasher to be 100% sure that it will never occur again.

FPTw tool always dumping ~ 11MB from my BIOS and using ME Analyzer show’s that there is no Intel ME inside of it.
