It’s not possible, because Acer app won’t let you downgrade or reflash same bios again, so technically I need update (1.09 or newer) or different method to rewert back to stock.
@mikolaj612 - Sorry, I wasn’t thinking! In your case, this instance, just reflash your original FPT dumped BIOS, then you will be back on stock BIOS
Be aware, once you do that you will need to dump vars again and have it edited again before you can flash back in the mod BIOS.
I would not try flashing in previously edited vars, it may not be same for all things, I’d only dump and edit again if you want to go back to unlocked BIOS.
Also, if you want, I can edit your vars or flash program to allow same version flash, most likely But it’s just as easy, and quicker to reflash your first FPT BIOS region dump instead
App won’t let me flash original bios dump
I’ve got error everytime I tried.
It would be nice to have modified app or at least good option to revert back to stock just in case.
@mikolaj612 - App, do you mean FPT? If yes, only flash original FPT Dumped BIOS. Show me the error and what you are typing all in one image. Have you ever used AFU to flash BIOS on this system?
Anyway, stock BIOS and mod BIOS is only two main bytes changed difference, to unlock the menu, no real need to ever flash stock back in but I’m sure FPT will let you (if not, we can try other ways)
I have a problem in changing power limit
In bios I can set set custom PL1 and PL2
and set undervolting
These settings are correct because when I open XTU in fresh re-installed windows even without installed Predator Sense I can see these values on proper places
But the problem is that it works exactly the same way as I would set it directly in XTU i.e. it doesn’t work or rather it works only in lower direction
I.e. if I set PL1 limit to lower than 45W, for ex. 35W, systems sees that value and starts to power throttle at this 35W but if I set PL1 to higher than 45W for ex 55W then it still power throttles at 45W.
Any idea how to pass it?
I have a theory that it is related with additional EC, this laptop is designed for use with appropriate software PredatorSense and even has separate hardware button Turbo which changes PL, graphic clocks and fans rpm so everything which goes through PS or Turbo button goes through EC thus all settings such as fans speed, PL set in bios or XTU are ignored
Acer Engineer said that TURBO unlock CPU to 80W( PL2 for 28 sec) and GPU to 90 W (80W by default) but i think that itsn’t exact at all max for me is 71/73 max ! and GPU stay at 80
TO SUM UP : i can go 4.4 ghz an all cores under debian linux and laptop is hot like hell so bios settings are good for linux …
With windows it is messy i rekown : can go past 73W under prime95 and cinebench !
i will post all my settings buddy dont worry better than explanations !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Memory : i manage stable 3000 mhz (thx for the “ratio” i wont understand that is a multiplier in fact )
stock JEDEC specs i run cheap ram vs yours
now :
dont look at the NB speed (iddling btw) it 4 ghz under load not 2.8 …
Will try tighter latencies to reach Cas17 with little overvolting (1.25V) and i am good dont touch it anymore wont go past 3100-3200 even with crazy high latencies 22-24 cas i think iam hitting the northbridge “Wall”…

I have made a Vbios Mod -) putint custom Thermal envelop limit at 90W so real TDP !
here it is : https://transfernow.net/123fb4p9wpij
So to put in a nutshell : you have to set PEG limit for you GFX to 75 --) 90W (i set 95W in bios to be sure will be no bottleneck) after this operation
1- Unrar the two files on you desktop or to c:<br />
2- lauch CMD.EXE whith admin privileges !
3- Navigate to your path directory you unzipped the files
4- input the followings in the cmd:
Enter " nvflash64_patched_5.541.0.exe --save GiveName.rom"
Replace the GiveName with whatever name you want to give to it.
It’ll start saving the vbios. -) backup stock Vbios file for security !
once it is done, type exit to exit the cmd.
-5 Now explore to ~\nvflash64_patched_5.541.0\ folder and look for the rom file you just saved : You should see the .rom file you have just backed up.
Look for the file size : My TU106 files is 1022/23 Ko (in french octet in bytes it would differ of course : look at the modded file TU106.rom and your backup is the size corresponding or not ?
If it is the cas you can continue mate !!!
-6 Open the device manager go to GFX tab -) RTX 2060 mobile and disable it !
say yes to the warning message : at this time screen will flash and the HDMI port will be disabled only your main screen remaining active (igpu is here !)
Ok proceed : launch another time the CMD with admin privileges go back to your folder and enter : the following command !
Enter nvflash64_patched_5.541.0.exe -6 TU106.rom :
You’ll be prompt two times for the subvendor and pci config instancing …
Press y one time ignore warning (dont worry)
press y second time ignore warning (dont worry)
I could hear a BEEP or not (ive not heard it for my part) and screen will flash and you should read " Verifying…
Flash successfully.
If you see this then you have flashed successfully."
Ok operation is done !!!
-7 Go back to device manager and re-enable your GFX : should be ok your screen connected to HDMi will work again as before …
- 8 Reboot your computer and launch GPU-Z :
before the bios modding bios looked like that for me :
960 STOCK -1750 GDDR6 - 1200 BOOST
now it should look like this :
1110 STOCK - 1750 GDDR6 - 1335 BOOST
Card non O/C will boost higher and have 90W TDP
I have won 1670 pts on FIRESTRIKE and i can run it past 2180 mhz before it was 2070 mhz
Your welcome Hyppo !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Will send you asap all the screenshots of my bios better than explanations !
See ya buddies !

Nope what Turbo button does is increase PL1 from 45W to 56W and sets higher GPU clock but this option is useless because fans are just unbearable at 6000 rpm
But doing it without Turbo button is impossible
it’s above Intel specs I suppose so I doubt it is possible even on linux
You can’t do it for long time (above 28 sec by default), check your real TDP in XTU or HWInfo after 5 min of 100% load
Mine is 2x16Gb But 3200 is not passing stress test I think this is CPU limitation so my daily settings is 3000 CL17
Looking forward for it
For now I think that unlocking bios is not giving too much becoz those EC ruins everything, it prevents to set custom fan curve (the biggest issue with this laptop) and to increase PL
What it does from the positive side is to set custom memory clock/timings, set custom undervolt (but PS overwrites it back to -.125) and enable numlock on boot, well it’s not too much
look for the Vbios meanwhile : TRY QUICK CPU : https://coderbag.com/product/quickcpu
DO WHAT I AM DOING HERE LOCK FEATURE TDP MAXED OUT : best result forget 80W and 1200 secs !
VID @ 3.3 ghz 0.95V good for me (VID aka Vcore stock is 1.26V-1.30V for i7 9th 9750H)
ViD @ 4.3 ghz 1.175V good for me (VID aka Vcore stock is 1.26V-1.30V for i7 9th 9750H)
under i got little Vdroping so Vdrop is like -0,025mV under load !
then bios with little enhancement (undervolting best so far i dont touch the uncore part yet Nb side !)
ok let go babe !
RTX mobile @ RTX desktop : no problem 90W vs 180W
Cherry picked babe !
Torture test 2050- 2070 max … HOLLY SHIT !
@saltinbank
Hi man, thanks for your BIOS photos
But I want to tell you that playing with PEG power limit won’t do anything to your dGPU anyway.
I’ve got same laptop but with GTX1660Ti, power limit for dGPU is stored directly in vBIOS so playing with PEG will be placebo in this case.
Current draw is directly controled by GPU itself - you could set PEG to 30W and your GPU will not slow down in any case.
So if you really want to gain some performance on your GPU you must either play with UV/cooling (lower temp = higher boost clock) or look for higher TDP bios/mod your stock one to accept higher current limit.
Hey, definitely some of you settings did the trick! Because now it power throttled now at 56W not 45W
Here is screenshots after run Prime95 for 10 mins
You see now it is 56W but what is bad is that core clock is just 2.9Ghz so low
And moreover scores in Cinebench R15 is poor 1080
Anyway I’m very impressed that it changed limit but which parameter exaclty? Also you forgot to show me Config TDP in bios, please share
And do you have the same cpu clock around 2.9Ghz in Prime95?
for a reference, just see how my another laptop with 9750H performs, lenovo Y540, after the same 10 min in Prime95
you see what I mean, lenovo core freq 3.45 while acer is 2.83 that’s a shame and must be fixed =)
@Lost_N_BIOS
would you be so kindly to tell me if there exist in BIOS any EC region values to cotrol fan speed?
I already found (maually) two registers to read fan speed in NBFC app and probably control regsters too.
But I still need master register for manual control.
@mikolaj612 which registers you found? Reading those values in NFFC is already important step
Here is fan curve table I posted earlier, I hope it will help in investigation
I could read fan speed (both fans) in NBFC right now
Would you be so kindly to make a screenshot of your EC section in RW Everything with fans at max speed?
It will make my task much easier if PH315-52 would be similiar
BTW @Lost_N_BIOS
Why am I getting this error :
Warning: Fail to read FW Status Register value.
Error 7: The function "GetSystemFirmwareTable" failed with Windows Error Code: 7.
FPT Operation Failed.
When I tried to reflash your BIOS again?
HAPPY NEW YEAR BUDDIES !
@Hyppo cool that some tweaks have allowed you to go past 56W
the fact is the EC is a bitch with AVX instruction (when encoding video for example) or Small blend test with Prime mine is hovering between 2.96 ghz min and 3.61 ghz … Can fix this issue i will try to lower the vid and the voltage of uncore part and and playing with NB voltages …
The fact limits are hard codded (of some sort) i dont explain that under windows Power limits kick in no matter what 56W sux and PL2 is able to run only 28sec! XTU is a garbage i spent the last 4 days to test all the feature : last ressort for me is more underclocking VID/UNCORE/VR parts
Quick Cpu won’t help me but it is very usefull to downclock the cpu for desktop purpose (writting, surfing on the web) …
I tested under linux and its runs fllawlessly @75W after the EC is stopping me no mater what …
It makes me mad !
Right now iam tweaking the 2060 with editing my stock bios cuz the asus one give me headaches also :
i have downloaded on github this software for editing Vbios : Stock thresholds were 70 - 75W i put 90W and 120W max and enforcing also temperature limit, ill give a try :
Let us know if you’re able to flash your bios with programmer and how does it work (it might give you an error in device manager).
After you flash it post your screenshot from device manager and HWnfo (while launching kombustor or something similar).
Thanks for you advices btw buddy !
I read your comment don’t worry
I heard that flashing modified bios on RTX will give you an error that could be seen in device manager, Pascal was free from this issue.
I’m very curious about it - so please reflash and come back to us later
If there will be 43 error there is a chance to fix it.
I’ve got 1660Ti on my Helios and I’m thinking about vbios mod on my laptop
