ThinkPad P14s Gen5 AMD (21ME) Bios dump error

I have a ThinkPad P14s Gen5 AMD and want to use an SSD in the WWAN interface. During the process, I used a CH341A to dump the BIOS file, but I couldn’t open the .bin file with UEFITool. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? I’ve uploaded some images and the .bin file. Some users on other forums mentioned needing a 1.8V adapter card—will using a 1.8V adapter prevent this error when dumping the file?

I tried to open the .bin file with UEFITool, but it prompted ‘UEFI volumes not found’. What causes this error?"

· BIOS Type: Lenovo UEFI
· BIOS Chip: 25LB128ESIG
· BIOS Version: R2LET35W (1.16) - AMD AGESA PhoenixPI-FP8-FP7 1.2.0.0

If the CH341A was used correctly on the GD25LB128E(SIG) as 1.8v it should be a reading of no FFFFF (empty/failed reading).

And next time, same as your post in Badcaps, provide the mentioned system information…
Supplementary Information:

· Laptop Model: ThinkPad P14s Gen5 AMD (21ME)
· Serial Number: PF5BD8VA (INCORRECT) sub PN of the system model
· Motherboard Model: 21MECTO1WW (System model NOT MB)
· BIOS Type: Lenovo UEFI
· BIOS Chip: 25LB128ESIG
· BIOS Version: R2LET35W (1.16) - AMD AGESA PhoenixPI-FP8-FP7 1.2.0.0
· SMBIOS Version: 3.3
· CPU Microcode: 0xA70520A

What’s the ID on the motherboard PCB?

I’m sorry, I’m not very familiar with these terms. I got the following information from CMD:

C:\Users\***>wmic bios get serialnumber
SerialNumber
PF5BD8VA

C:\Users\***>wmic baseboard get product
Product
21MECTO1WW

Some other questions:

1.Where can I find the “sub PN of system model”?

2.Do I need to disassemble the laptop motherboard to see the motherboard board number?

I will attempt to dump the BIOS file again using a 1.8V adapter in the next steps.

Sir… i said motherboard PCB (Printed circuit board) …the “real” board itself…not on OS environment.

The provided SN is incorrect by Lenovo identification…

So that means that you didnt checked the IC voltage prior to conection and you supplied 3.3v to the IC (Do we have now a “death” IC…)…no wait…is the system still alive…

But anyway where is that supposed .BIN your dumped…

I am a newly registered user and cannot upload attachments, so I have provided a cloud storage link. The chip is currently intact, and the laptop is functioning normally. The incorrect SN might be because the device was purchased through an official refurbished channel. Do you need any specific documents? I can provide files such as BIOS drivers obtained from the Chinese official website.

Is NM-G031 the motherboard board number? However, this information does not come from the laptop I own, but was obtained from the motherboard images in the component information for the 21ME model series on Lenovo’s official website.

Yes it’s correct… when dealing with such operations, the visual inspection is a MUST.

Lenovo file after extraction is 64Mb… i dont have the schematic/boardview of the NM-G031 to confirm the ICs of this motherboard… but i would expect something like at least 32Mb dump, so you dumped incorrectly, dumped wrong IC or the board has multiple ICs

Possible reading ICs

Yes, the file I currently dumped comes from the 25LB128ESIG chip, with a file size of 16MB. Are the other chips located on the opposite side? This task requires a significant amount of free time to complete, which I currently don’t have. Thank you very much for your response.

I have uploaded the .FL1 file from the official BIOS update utility to the cloud drive as well, in case it might be useful. Thank you once again for your help.
