ASUS x79 Motherboards Microcode Update for Meltdown and Spectre

Hello,

I think ASUS will not release new BIOS for X79 platforms, and we have to update the BIOS ourselves.
This is ASUS’s statement: https://www.asus.com/News/V5urzYAT6myCC1o2

For 3960X I’d already update with modded BIOS here.

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.ph…ode-patch-here!

Some Sandy Bridge (and Ivy Bridge) CPUs there:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help…-windows-server
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help…crocode-updates
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help…crocode-updates

According to www.cpu-world.com
3960X CPUID=206D6
3930K CPUIDs=206D5, 206D7 (diff steppings)
3820 CPUIDs=206D6, 206D7 (diff steppings)

We (people here) can update BIOS with microcodes for you, as long as their is codes available which there usually is. And you can always use UBU to update as well.

Thank you, I used UBU Tool: [Tool Guide+News] “UEFI BIOS Updater” (UBU)
Everything is explained in section B, point e) Update of the “CPU MicroCode” modules (here: for Intel CPUs).

I was able to update CPU MicroCode, Intel LAN firmware and MArvell controller
My motherboard is ASUS P9X79 Pro with XEON E5-1660 v2.

UPDATE 1

Unfortunately, I don’t have additional BIOS EEPROM chip but I ordered some on eBay…

UPDATE 2

I received additional BIOS EEPROM chips, but after updating CPU MicroCode (with the latest UBU Tool 1.70 RC10.2), my motherboard resets over and over.
It works fine when I update only Network and SATA Controller firmware with UBU + Intel ME Firmware 8.1.70.1590 with other updater.
