I would like to ask the experts here, if its possible to program EDID on an TN LCD to start showing white lines after a while, like a build in time bomb.
I ask this because I am now on AOU B156xtn02.6 LCD number 3 failing in 2 years, so either I got really bad luck or the Chinese seller did something to keep selling LCDs, its the same exact timing with all the panels 6+ months and white horizontal lines start the exact same place, in the bottom of the LCD.
I don’t use Windows but Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon.
Laptop is Lenovo ThinkPad L540 20AU.
I know about rebonding of the tapbonds, but EXACTLY the same timing, makes me smell something fishy.
I also know that its possible to write the EDID, Allan Leon on Linus Tech Tips forum explain how to hack an IPS LCD to get recognized by the Thinkpad T450 bios White list
So is it possible that the chinese sellers did something to EDID and is there a way to figure it out and maybe fix it?
Just tell me what you need, I am not a shark in Terminal, but could figure it out.
I am so tired of changing LCDs, and the only way to buy them here in the Philippines is through the local Shopee or Lazada, so not really a choice.
Yes, I could buy them on AliExpress or Alibaba but those sites don’t really inspire confidence and there are no help to get if you get a “dud”. Return fee is outrageous and they usually take a restock fee.
On eBay basically the same problem, all sellers ask you to pay return which currently are seriously out of this world.
So I rather figure this out now, then later when oil prices are back to normal, order another model with IPS LCD.
Can you help me figure this out?
