@KarnagXpot - One beep and black screens means system is posting, but your graphics card may be dead, or no graphics being output to the LCD (or faulty LCD). Or may just be due to you switched to legacy, hard to say for sure without system in my hands)
Try connecting external monitor and boot, and wait 2-3 minutes to see if anything on screen. If nothing, shut down and try next external method, always connect external before you power on, then wait long enough you are sure nothing is going to come on screen (like windows loading)
It may also just be your vBIOS does not have legacy option rom, or some related setting still set at UEFI, so conflict etc.
Is that the ONLY thing you changed when it stopped working, you werenāt adding more undervolt? If not, then it may just be something do with these settings and graphics is OK.
You need CH341A + SOIC8 / SOP8 test clip, let me know if you need linked examples
Hello everyone, there was already a similar thread regarding this topic. Unfortunately its seems I have also a bricked bios:
When I power it on the keyboard and the other lightning bars illuminate, the fans start spinning, slowly increasing the speed (rpm) and then eventually the screen backlights turn on without posting anything. It stays like this until I press the power button to shut it down. Before the Bios Flash everything was fineā¦ I already used the CH341A to dump the bios (file attached) Chip Model: Winbond 25Q128FVSQ. I hope this can be fixedā¦ Would really appreciate the help.
Alienware 15 R3 (i7-7700HQ - kaby lake- / GTX 1070)
@BaronMike - Merged your thread into this main 15 R3 Bricked thread, Iāll see if I can help!
For W25Q128FV you need to use 1.18 version CH341A software (for valid read only), or use ASProgrammer 1.41, or Colibri otherwise other versions always fail (at read sometimes, but write always).
What did you make the above dump with? If not one of the above mentioned programs/versions, here is package, please dump with Asprogrammer or Colibri - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?filā¦213094641136166
Also, what BIOS version were you using before the update, and what BIOS version did you try to update to?
just wanna let you know guys that my laptop is still working :)) I managed to break it again by changing some stuff in the bios and I forgot my programmer at my moms house so I had to send it for repair, I told the guy whatās the problem with it and I was right, managed to fix it again, unfortunately, this laptop does not play well cyberpunk, still alive though, good look with your repairs!
@BrickedAlien - Good to hear your system is still alive! Sorry to hear about the programmer/repair situation
You should have ordered new programmer and waited, it would have been cheaper than sending in for repair. Where did you send, Dell/Alienware, or elsewhere?
Yes, hopefully we can fix BaronMikeās system! Thereās been a few users I could not help get fixed, maybe due to EC FW chip being erased or corrupted etc. Hopefully thatās not the case this time around!
@Lost_N_BIOS thanks for the fast response. I used 1.18 to make the dump so it should have worked. About the bios version, unfortunately I didnāt really pay attention, it showed up under the Dell/Alienware Update Tool so I just went with itā¦ I think it was the most recent one (1.10.0) that was recommended.
15R3.rar (4.83 MB)
@BaronMike - Youāre welcome! Thanks for the info. Donāt use 1.18 to write back BIOS, and really, it would be best if you made dump with ASProgrammer 1.41, or Colibri for now too, so we can compare to be sure your 1.18 read was OK on this board/case too before we do anything here.
What is the above attached file? Same one as file attached at post #102? if yes, you can remove one of them, or tell me to, itās just taking up server space if itās same file
ok, I removed the first file. but I made a very foolish decisionā¦ I already wiped the chip clean, thought I could do some preparatory work, wellā¦ now I can only hope for the 1.18 dump to be Ok
@BaronMike - What did you āRemoveā?? Please put it back, if you meant some previous file you posted here, I may not have not downloaded it yet.
I see you edited 102+107, what file was in 107 before, and what file is there now, what was removed?
Yes, we will never know now if 1.18 dump is OK, when you write something to chip and it fails we wont know if itās due to edit/mod or failed source from 1.18 dump
I think maybe I did download some file from you already, and was thinking weād try ME FW Fix first, since ME FW was corrupted (if itās the file I was thinking about here)
I only removed the file from #102 because it was the same one as 107 (this is the original first dump made with 1.18)
@BaronMike - OK, thanks for clarifying what was going on there, and sorry, I think I told you to remove that initially anyway, sorry for my confusion later
What CPU do you have?
i7-7700HQ
@BaronMike - First, please test this stock BIOS I made for brunorsa @ post #97 -Alienware 15 r3 dead after bios update (7)
Before I put in a lot of time rebuilding you a set of BIOS files for no reason, that may not work, in case your EC FW or other chips are messed up.
And, be sure to use one of the software/versions I mentioned are confirmed working for this chip, otherwise you wont know if failed BIOS or failed write from programmer
Unless you do the following directly after a write, without powering on system, close program, open program, read, verify, save and then compare in hex w/ what you wrote, if 100% match then write is OK
This would manually confirm whatever write method you use, and would only be needed to be checked one time and youāll know if whatever software/version or ID you choose works or not.
** Due to ME FW change (downgrade in this case), after programming BIOS, remove programmer clip, unplug PSU from system if you have it connected, press and hold power on button for 1+ minute to drain all power from board.
Let sit for 1+ Minute like that with no power, this resets the ME FW state
If this BIOS boots OK, I will make you fixed BIOS based on this with ME FW updated to latest, and then put back your system details etc.
@Lost_N_bIOS
Hi, I Need Some Help!
My Alienware 15 R3 is dead, and, after reading this Post, i grab one programer from ebay, and extracted bios: http : // s000.tinyupload.com / index.php?file_id=09377748940170113902
If you can assist on a fix, i will appreciate, the notebook only blinks 2xred 1xblue.
MB is BAP10 LA-D751P ( rev 1.0 )
Unfortunately it didnāt work out, did everything according to your instructions, the keyboard and side lights did reset but the black screen with backlight on remainsā¦ At the beginning it did restart a couple of timesā¦ also gave me a led code 3x red 1x Blue but now itās like before
@MMM - What is your BIOS chip ID? And what software/version did you use to make the dump with?
What caused your brick initially? What CPU model do you have?
@BaronMike - I was afraid Iād hear that back
Find the W25Q80 chip and dump and send to me so I can try to see if I can tell what version is there.
HI, @Lost_N_BIOS !
Bios Chipt ID: Winbond 25Q128FVSG
Dumped Bios with Colibri_program-1.0.1.61-CH341A ( from one of your posts )
Cause repaste: maybe static, removal of battery, just no clue ( or some bios update, but made by the system itself )
CPU: I7-6700HQ
Thanks in advance for any help !
Ok @Lost_N_BIOS
made the dump with colibri
thanks for trying to figure this one out
