AMD and Nvidia GOP update (No requests, DIY)

@xxad

Okay again from the beginning.
Step by step…

Please describe your procedure in individual steps!

Do you mean the 216692_updGOP.rom or GOPupd.exe?

GPupd.exe did its job. The error is not there.

Save your patched VBios file and upload it here.
nvflash64 --save filename.rom or use GPU-Z.

hi, i used the file that you patched. this one in particular "216692_updGOP.rom"
but once i flash the said file using nvlash64, the uefi information disappears.

i do an nvlfash64 -v and this is what it says:

my usual procedure for flashing are as follows:
1. disable dispaly driver in device manager
2. nvflash64 --protectoff
3. nvflash64 -6 216692_updGOP.rom
4. nvflash64 -v (to check on the version)

thanks

looks good!

To avoid possible sources of error.
It is recommended to start nvflash64 as administrator.
Deactivate the antivirus scanner used.

It is possible that the patching process was incorrect.
I can only see this if I have the patched vBios file…

@xxad

Hi, I’ve manually modded the original Asus (Techpowerup link) 2070 Super bios with latest Turing UEFI Gop.

Try it via the same nvflash version you used before for flashing back the original bios and report feedback please.

Modded.zip (674 KB)

thanks @skylar

i checked the version and it shows like this

these are the bioses that ive tried to patch

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/216692/216692.rom
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/2120…92.190620_1.rom

ps: everyhting was working fine before i switched from asus rog b450e to asus rog x570e. maybe because there was no checking sequence present in the old b450. display port is detected right away during cold boots. after changing to x570 ive had all sorts of problems with the gop / dsiplayport not being detected. i cant enter bios, and it goes straight to windows and it stays stuck with the white vga light on. to isolate the problem, i tried using my friend’s 1080ti and it was flawless. he updated it using nvdia’s official gop updater which unfortunately does not work with newer nvidia turing cards.

@xxad

look, i need this file from you! :wink:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXF50iK_zyQ

Otherwise I can’t help you…

@xxad

Try these steps please:

1) Prepare a USB bootable device (FreeDOS) with Rufus and copy over it the DOS version of NVFlash (older version) and the modded bios you would like to flash with 8 chars name lenght (modded.rom is fine)
2) Enable CSM into BIOS and boot from the Legacy USB device you created before.
3) At the DOS prompt, try to flash your VGA adapter in the same way with NVFlash.

If it does not work try this:

1) Enable CSM into bios
2) Boot Windows in “Safe-Mode”. You can do this booting in the normal way and then keep pressed SHIFT + Restart (from start menu) (see this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwIOazT1BxU&t=80s)
3) Use NVFlash and see if it works.

Further steps to try:

- Disable Aura into bios (F4 and Stealth Mode -> All aura leds off)
- Put your VGA into any different PCI-Express slots.

GOP Updater v1.9.6.5.i

- Added Turing UEFI GOP 0x50015 table.

GOP_Updater_v1.9.6.5_i.rar (5.86 MB)

update:

i tried the new version of GOP updater. was able to flash the bios to the lastest gop version.

but unfortunately the vga light / white LED on my motherboard is still lighting up (displayport communication between my monitor and pc not syncing fast enough to detect that there is a monitor)

@xxad

You could try a different PCI-Express slot in order to fix the vga light / white LED (this has nothing to do with nvflash flashing process and it is due to your motherboard or VGA output signal).

The VGA LED detection on the motherboard POST has nothing to do with the delay signal to ur monitor, the bios POST doesnt need to know the output (Monitor) device attached, as i suspected before u may have have a hw issue, most likely on the vga circuit since u told us that a 1080 was fine and the led shuts off as supposed in POST, so if this is hw failure no GOP or gpu bios will fixit. The delay u have is the communication from GPU with the attached device and adding the the detection LED on the motherboard as error, all points to a HW issue on the VGA CARD… this is only my opinion.

I had the same problem with a monitor (144Hz) connected via Display Port. It seemed that it all started because I hotly disconnected the DP cable from the system unit, and then connected it after a while. It even happened that the computer did not turn on, the motherboard cursed about connecting to the monitor and the VGA diode was on. I took it to the service, they said that everything was in order, but, as it turned out later, they tested only HDMI. After the test, I still had similar problems. If I was able to boot into Windows, then in the graphics settings I had problems with setting the frequencies (in the monitor, the G-Sync module). One person advised to cut off everything from the network and then turn everything back on (as if high-frequency things without grounding in sockets can apparently behave inadequately after failures, etc., cannot really synchronize). I did so, in the end I felt better, but the defect did not completely go away, sometimes the monitor itself blinks, but this now happens very rarely at the moment. I updated the GOP, currently the latest available is built in (UEFI Version: 0x30012).

Maybe Windows itself is to blame or the video driver, while there were terrible problems with updates, the Internet was filled with messages about glitches. Now stands MICROSOFT Windows 10 Pro x64 (2004 May 2020 Update & All Updates / 10.0.19041.388).

when i restart the system, since the monitor is already on, the white led shuts off. also by turning on the monitor first, before powering on the system, the light doesnt turn on, i doubt its the gpu thats acting up because ive had this 2070super with my previous board (strix b450-e) . its the motherboard thats new (strix x570-e). with my friends 1080 ti , the light did turn on the first time, but after patching with nvidia’s gop updater everything went through https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-uefi-update-x64/

strix x570-e
strix 2070s oc
asus vg27bq via DP.

no issues with hdmi , but who wants to use hdmi these days.

Sounds like a BIOS Bug to me, related to the type/method of GPU/monitor connection, or some setting needs changed in regards to that.
Since it’s fine and LED does not come on with monitor forced on first how you mentioned above.

Same issue with MSI GT 710. It’s driving me nuts.

I suggest u look further assistance in InsanelyMac foruns…, GOPS provided here r no miracles to hackintosh, i saw all kind of issues with GPUs since Chameleon…Clover and now The Miracle Open Core.
Better yet, go to Netkas foruns.

thanks everyone, still no work around for me, i tried resetting the bios to default and it was fine for about a day, but the next day it came back. this is driving me nuts.

Hello guys everyone! What do you think, is it possible to turn RTX 2080 into RTX 2080 Super by flashing the BIOS. I think that this procedure is not successful, but still what is your opinion?

Hi all,

Greate post.

Need some help.
I Got Quadro card and i would like to patch it for passthru,
But i got a small problem
