AMD Only DDR3L SO-DIMM

After searching if there was such a thing as “AMD Only” RAM and not finding any results, I thought maybe the ad was referring to the fact it was double sided and not physically capable of being installed on an Intel motherboard (as if they’re all created equal).
Because I’m a glutton for punishment, I chanced fate and went ahead and bought this: eBay item 144183187516

The label just like in the ad photos shows a part number of MT16KTF1G64HZ-1G6E1 (8GB 2Rx8 PC3L-12800S-11-11-FP).

I tried in my old trusty Acer Aspire AS5750 w/ i7-2630qm and it would not POST with either DIMM. Figuring it may be the SPD timings, I then tried in a Lenovo U510 with i7-3517U and again, no POST.

Luckily I’m able to boot off of another DIMM and read i2c from the new module in the additional DIMM slot.

It’s most likely a counterfeit label however since the SPD settings below indicate a 1RX8 configuration.

Interestingly there is also a solder bridge on the back side of the PCB on two pins where another SPD flash IC could go. Could this actually be a 16GB DIMM with half of the dies locked out (ie. binned)?

I tried following a couple sets of instructions which used tools like RWEverything, tb2bin, and Thaiphoon Burner to create an XMP profile, but they were all quite vague on the additional timing values that are not found in the JEDEC SPD settings.

EDIT: Another thing to note is that the entire flash IC appears to be unlocked, so I should in theory be able to write over the SPD data.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this booting in an Intel laptop? Unfortunately I don’t have an AMD machine to test with.

As far as I remember, it is possible to fix the SPD so that it works with Intel, but half the amount of memory will be lost.
