[ARCHIVE] Outdated UBU Tool related Questions, Reports and Suggestions

Nice! But how i can add it in msi bios??

New upstream microcode data package, release 20171117.

Updates for CFL (Coffelake), SKX (Skylake-X), GLK (GeminiLake), APL (Apollo Lake), KBL (Kabilake).

can we get a update done on ubu to support the new Coffelake cpu ?

Any new update or is the UBU project dead?

it is not dead, UBU worked by using mmtool as one of its executables. AMI asked them to desist in using it with their tool.
The creators are having to build a replacement for mmtool from the ground up. please be patient!

I think I have found a bug in the script. Sometimes in my Ubu folder when dragging a bios file onto the Ubu batch file to be opened - Ubu will open the last file I worked on or another unrelated file. It sometimes helps to delete bios.bin prior. In any case I wish Ubu would just leave the name of the file alone unless asked to rename it otherwise. Thanks.

Since the other UBU thread, where you had posted, is reserved for the UBU Guide and SoniX`s UBU Update announcements, I have moved your posts into this UBU Discussion thread.

This is not a bug.
Simple solution: Before running the UBU tool, the user should make sure, that no recently processed BIOS file is stored within the UBU folder.
Another option: Once the user has finished his work with the UBU tool, the just modded and renamed BIOS file should be removed from the UBU folder.

Thank you for the tip… However lately it has acted strangely and even if I delete the bios.bin file it will still open another unintended bios file.

I have come up with a solution in that I have added to the beginning of the script "del bios.bin" and a copy directive to copy the file to a BAK file to suit my needs.

Thanks.

Only BIOS files, which are within the UBU folder, will be opened automaticly.

Disadvantage of this solution: If you want to continue your modding work with an already previously processed BIOS, you will have to start again from scratch.

Good to know. Thanks.

Should you update your ME firmware due to INTEL-SA-00086, it is recommended that you also update the processor microcode to the ones in this release (or newer), especially if you’re going to use SGX/TXT or Secure Boot for anything. You have been warned.

I recently realised that updating my haswell motherboard’s microcode to the latest version dramatically improved my CPU’s overclockability. I couldn’t really believe it when I realised, but with my board’s stock microcode [email protected] would crash within seconds under a x264 stress test. With the latest microcode, it can run x264 all night and fold for 60+ hours at those settings.

Thank you Fernando for continually exposing me to niche tools that dramatically affect hardware performance and usability, and thanks Sonix for continued work on this awesome tool.

Thanks for your contributions. I have moved them into the correct UBU Discussion thread (the other one is reserved for SoniX and his UBU update announcements).

Am I wrong, or this version of Kabylake microcode is 70?

It is. I have it, manual replacement with mmtool.

Am I wrong, or this version of Kabylake microcode is 70?

no that is the coffeelake microcode. the skylake and kabylake are the same version that are already supplied in
UBU_v1_69_5

It turns out I’m not the only one finding that the latest Haswell microcode 22 has substantially improved overclocking.

This needs more testing for it to be certain that this is an all-encompassing change. I urge anyone still running their haswell systems to give this a go! It let me go from 4.7GHz to 4.8 at the same voltage of 1.3v, and get to [email protected], a clockspeed I had never gotten stable before! With microcode 19, [email protected] crashes on stress testing with x264 instantly.

Hi everyone.
I’m new here and trying to mod bios on my motherboard.
The problem is I cannot find mmtool.exe file anywhere.
The reaseon for bios mod is to allow max turbo on all cores of haswell i7 4790 cpu.
Any help is much appreciated.

This it the bios that I am trying to mod: http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/mb/7851v19.zip
the motherboard is the MSI Z87I AC.
