Asus Maximus Extreme V +++, a Z77 board from 2012, has an Asmedia 1061 SATA controller besides the usual Intel one.
It’s crucial for me to run Win XP 32-bit on this mobo. Harddisks larger than 2 TB need to run in IDE mode to function properly under Win XP 32-bit, and I’d like to use 4+ TB HDDs on it.
I don’t want to run the main Intel controller in IDE mode, only the Asmedia one.
Per default, the Asmedia controller runs as AHCI, it can’t be switched to IDE from the BIOS.
I wonder if there are ANY ways to switch/force it into IDE mode? Software - switch ROM - firmware, etc. ?
A Biostar card that looks like it can be switched by firmware. +++

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
The problem is, that your ASMedia SATA Controller is an on-board one and managed by the mainboard BIOS. If you don’t see within your mainboard BIOS any option to switch the SATA mode of the ASMedia SATA Controller, you will have to modify a System BIOS module. I am sorry, but I cannot help you with this difficult and risky operation.
