ASRock X79 Extreme4 EFI modules

Hi!

I have selled my old MSI Eclipse SLI (the one with the huge performance boost after RST modding) and no I have an ASRock X79 Extreme4.
I modified it with UBU and there are some unknown ROMs in it:

1 Intel RST(e) OROM and EFI SataDriver
OROM IRST RAID for SATA - 13.5.0.2164
OROM IRST RAID for SATA - 13.5.0.2164
OROM IRSTe RAID for SATA - 4.1.0.1026
EFI IRSTe RAID for SATA - 4.1.0.1026
EFI IRST RAID for SATA - 12.7.0.1936
EFI IRST RAID for SATA - 11.6.0.1702

Is it safe to update those "EFI RST RAID for SATA" with versions 12.7.0.1936 and 11.6.0.1702 and how can I update them?

Best regards,

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

The latter part of the question is the easiest to answer: Let the UBU tool do the work.
The choice of the "best" Intel RAID ROM module depends on the Intel SATA Controller settings within the BIOS.

If you need help regarding the choice of the best suitable Intel RAID ROM module, you should give us some additional informations:
1. With which SATA mode (AHCI/RAID/IDE) is your on-board Intel SATA Controller running?
2. If you should have set it to "RAID" mode, which Rapid Storage Technology mode setting (RSTe or RST) did you choose within the BIOS?
3. Have you created an Intel RAID array? If yes, which sort (RAID0/RAID1/RAID5) and which Intel RAID Utility version did you use while creating it?

Yeah, but UBU detects them, and only updates the OROM parts and not the EFI parts.
I don’t know if this is supposed to happen.
Are those GUIDs simply not supported because thy weren’t encountered yet?
Or did ASRock brew some OEM stuff?

1. It is set to RAID mode.
2. I use RST (not RSTe).
3. I have a RAID-0 volume consisting of 2x WD Scorpio Black 500GB 2.5" drives. I don’t remember if I configured it with the utility or with teh OROM.

PS: I am only asking, because I have set “Boot Mode” to “Ultra Fast” and I don’t know what happens if the OROM and EFI versions are different.

These questions probably can only be answered by SoniX and should be posted into the UBU Discussions thread.

Thanks. The creation of a signature would be fine.

Nothing to worry about happens, because the system loads either the RAID OROM (if running in LEGACY mode) or the EFI "SataDriver" module (if running in UEFI mode) while booting.
