Hope you can help, I am stuck trying to deploy 4 x 4TB drives onto the Asus P5Q SE/R motherboard. I am booting to a 256GB SSD but wanted to have a RAID 10 drive from the 4TB HDDs to act as a backup from my main PC. The issue that I have is that the Option Rom (v8.0.0.1038) will not identify drives above 2TB and once I get into Windows the Intel RST software does not allow me to create a RAID volume. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.
@ cojpna:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
I suspect, that we cannot help you to get your >2 TB HDDs detected by the Intel SATA RAID Controller.
What your system needs is an Intel RST RAID ROM v10.5.x.xxxx or higher within the mainboard BIOS, but according to >this< “BIOS Modding Results” table other users of an ASUS P5Q series mainboard were not able to get any >100 KB sized Intel RAID ROM working. The latest Intel RST RAID ROM, which can be inserted into the BIOS without any problem, seems to be v10.1.0.1008, but this version doesn’t support >2 TB sized RAID volumes.
Nevertheless I recommend to update the Intel MSM RAID ROM 8.0.0.1038 of your BIOS to the Intel RST RAID ROM v10.1.0.1008, because this way you will have better results, when you are running one of the Intel RST drivers like v10.1.0.1008 WHQL or v11.2.0.1006 WHQL.

Thanks for the quick response, I was afraid that this was the case, but had to check.
Thanks again,
James.
