Windows 8 64 bit works quite happily with the latest Intel rste drivers.
However if I upgrade to windows 8.1 the upgrade fails with a your computer has had a problem then rolls back to 8
Remove all traces of the intel drivers and then use the Microsofts sata driver and the upgrade goes ahead.
Now if you try and update even just using the drivers the machine with not reboot and you have to use system restore.
The bios is set to ahci and always has been.
The ssd drives are Samsung evo and crucial ssd both latest firmware. I also use Samsung magian software.
Any ideas?

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
Why haven’t you done a clean install of Win8.1? According to my experiences this is always the best solution and I am pretty sure, that you will be happy with the result.
Once the OS is up, you can switch from the generic Win8.1 MS AHCI driver to the latest Intel RST (v12.8.6.1000) or RSTe (v3.8.1.1006) driver.

Too many apps to re-install support desks to email because the apps been activated too many times and it’s always the last resort I normally can beat these things. I should removed the drivers via revo-uninstaller to make sure they’ve all gone.
Guess I’ll have to tell Windows not to restart on the error just too see what it actually is. First of all try logging I guess and then boot into the other os so can have a look at the file.
I am sorry, but I don’t really understand what you want to say.
What have you done and what happened?
I was talking about enabling the windows log file during in start up.
Anyway as it is I discovered other things broken and I’ve got fed up fixing them so I’m using my backup to restore to windows 8.
You can either look into the Event Manager or disable the "Automatic Restart at System failure" option within the "Advanced System Settings".
