Asus Rampage II Extreme modding the OROM for RAID

AFAIK the problem is, that the BIOS of some X58 mainboards doesn’t offer bigger sized Option ROMs enough space for the loading procedure (the Intel RAID ROM has to be loaded at each boot/reboot, if the Intel SATA ports are running in RAID mode).
The removal of the boot logo obviously doesn’t solve this problem.

Only good will: v.10.10.1008 64 Kb and smaller than 100 Kb. And the PCI option ROM will be able to differentiate the 3 TB correct?

The Intel RAID ROM v10.1.0.1008 is the last one with a size <100 KB (all later released are about 120 KB sized).

Yes, an Intel RAID ROM v10.5.x.xxxx or higher is required for the detection and the fully usage of >2 TB sized RAID volumes.

The Intel RAID ROM v10.1.0.1008 this also supports 2TB drives and more?

No, it doesn’t.
Nevertheless I recommend to update your currently running Intel MSM RAID ROM to the Intel RST v10.1.0.1008, because this newer OROM matches much better the Intel RST RAID drivers.

So only buy some PCI-e 1x SATA RAID card. Thank you very much anyway.
Do you know me some advice? I watched this: SilverStone EC05
