Asus Sabertooth X58 NVME boot from modded bios

can anyone on here make that happen? i need to be able to boot from and nvme , i will provide ayment for work if desired

@Pizuski - Sorry, this is not possible, BIOS is too old. Your only option is bootloader methods

@Pizuski

i have the X58 chipset too and would like to to the same but it is impossible without develop a new bios for 10 year old hardware and you dont have enough space for the UEFI bios and you don t have the UEFI driver for that old hardware.

What you can do is use DUET with rewind… you loose 5-15 seconds of booting time but then you can have a os on a NVME drive.

see this thread on win raid https://www.win-raid.com/t3286f50-Guide-NVMe-boot-for-systems-with-legacy-BIOS-and-UEFI-board-DUET-REFIND.html

But you should keep in mind that you may have to update USB 3.0 firmware if the loading time is very slow. but its all written there.

And use at first the DUET REWIND 2015 because of the old hardware. but all new funktions are backportet so no worries.

And one more word if you use DUET REWIND its like a second bios. REwind loads the UEFI enviroment and DUET delivers NVME support and the UEFI Bios

My Hardware is

Asus Rampage III Extreme Black Edition Chipset intel X58 without uefi wihout NVME support :smiley: …very old
Intel I7 X990 Extreme …very old
48 GB DDR3 …old
NVME 1TB (Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD) with PCI Express adapter 4 lanes 2.0 (arround 1200MB/s read write) …very new
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 6GB … very new

USB device to boot DUET UEFI 2015 16 GB Intenso USB stick (should not use a usb 3.0 port for DUET REWIND)
and a modded bios by my self
