Hi there, I’m facing a weird problem with my bios configuration. when I install 1 stick of ram and set the ram speed to 1600mhz it will run fine. but when I install 2 stick of ram and run it in dual channel in 1600mhz the bios will not boot up. I don’t know what is wrong with the bios setting, can you guys help me to take a look at it. thanks. I plan to install another 2 stick of ram running in dual
Why pointing to bios issue? Did u mod it? Identical sticks (TRUE IDENTICAL)? If not identical, it could (rare…) generate some issues, why not check XMP profile in each module alone? If its the original Asus bios…theres nothing to look for…
both are identical ram, i have 1 set of hyper x 4gb and 1 set of samsung 4gb ram both are running with the same issue. starting with single stick is we can set the xmp, but running in dual the ram speed will be pull down to 533mhz. i did add nvme to the bios, that all i did to it. by the way is there anything related to the processor i’m using ? I’m using xeon 1240 v2
hi guys, i need some help regarding my problem that I’m facing with my motherboard. I’m using P8z77m motherboard with 4 ram slot when I try to install all the to it the bios can only access half of the memory, but when i went into the bios memory setup, i can see that the bios does manage to capture all four stick of the ram. even in window cpuz could read all the memory but win 10 can only use half of them. . meanwhile the memory clock speed will also decrease and the xmp setting can only work with 1 stick of ram. i have came across others that are facing such problem when the Intel ME is having problem, but i’m not sure am i in the same situation as theirs. can anyone who have knowledge on this matter could lend a hand. thank you
1. Download ME System Tools v8 from Intel (Converged Security) Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware and Tools 2. Download and extract the attachment (P8Z77-M-ASUS-2203.bin, full SPI/BIOS image without AMI Capsule) 3. Use Flash Programming Tool with command “fptw64 -f P8Z77-M-ASUS-2203.bin” followed by "fptw64 -greset" 4. Check if the problem is gone, otherwise it is hardware related or BIOS/RAM incompatibility
It is the latest stock/official ASUS BIOS. If you want other mod related things after this issue is fixed/diagnosed then you’ll have to open a separate thread.
Make sure your CPU supports that RAM frequency by checking its specifications at ark.intel.com, that your RAM dimms are compatible with each other and that the BIOS is properly configured and/or compatible with them. Firmware wise, all you can do is update the ME firmware by reading Intel (Converged Security) Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware and Tools carefully.
