Bios problem Asus Z87 pro: ME Version N/A (I can't install MEI driver)

Hi guys,

I have a problem with one pc (Asus z87 pro, i5 4670k) and can’t find a solution to it. The ME version reads N/A in bios. Apparently I need to install the MEI driver but when I tried to I got the message the system is not supported.

I tried flashing the bios several times with older and the last bios and still ME version N/A which doesn’t allow me overclock the system properly as the bios don’t usually save my settings.

Running out of ideas :frowning:

Hi, nobody able to help me? am I in the wrong forum?

@luisic2002 - Sorry, always buried and very busy here, and our ME specialist is not available right now I replied to you somewhere else, but I’ll now move that reply here instead and delete your other post

* Edit - ME N/A means ME FW corrupted, not blocked. ME Drivers can’t be installed with corrupted ME FW. All methods to fix this are complicated, some very complicated.
It may be easier for you to order flash programmer (CH341A = $2.60 on ebay) + U Type Flat IC extractor ($1 on ebay), and then once they arrive pull the chip, dump it, and send to me, I will fix ME, then you program back and put chip back into board.
Let me know if you need links to those items. This is complicated too, but much easier for end user to do vs the other complicated stuff to fix this without a programmer.

Did you already try USB Flashback and latest BIOS? Sometimes flashback will reflash ME FW, but not always.

Yes, I tried Bios flash back a few times, once fixed it but then shut off the PC for a week and for some reason went back to ME N/A.

I have seen there are a few CH341 bios programmers in ebay with a USB cable from China.

Thanks for your answer and help offer. I am going away for Xmas soon so I will do it upon my return in Jan

Cheers

I guess buying a bios chip would also fix it?

Thanks
