Preface: Win7 Enterprise UEFI on a ASUS CH7 running a Ryzen 2600. Same issue on a Crosshair VIII Dark Hero with BIOS 4301 and a 3950X.
I get stuck at the Starting Windows splash screen after updating my Crosshair VII’s BIOS to 4007. Previous BIOS with AGESA 1.0.0.6 works fine. Wat do? Apply manatails’ his UEFISeven somehow?
For shits 'n giggles I installed Win7 in MBR/CSM mode on my CH7, on BIOS 4007 I get the same issue.
WTF AMD?
I only know very little, Win7 has only partial UEFI and cannot do a full UEFI installation. I have an old Haswell mobo from Dell the machine has to get to full UEFI with a GPU upgrade from 780M Kepler to 980M Maxwell (due to GOP driver needed for that GPU and VGA module in the BIOS has not been updated by Dell as it’s an aftermarket GPU chipset so it’s a 2 way failure - lack of VGA driver for GPU and Full UEFI win7 issue need both to get it working) and if we try to get Win7 with UEFI it would always fail, only option is to disable CSM in the BIOS and make it full UEFI and install Win8.1 (which is what I did) or Win10. edit- my bad, didn’t see UEFISeven, the bypass route for Win7 Full UEFI.
But since you mentioned with CSM also it’s failing on CH7, but here’s one user from sevenforums [tinyurl(dot)com/ykax2k4h]who got X470 CH7H up and running with 3950X (Feb2021, not sure which AGESA).
4204 is AGESA 1.2.0.1 IIRC. I’ll try making a new image then.
God damn, i’m ready to move back to Intel once they have competetive products again. AMD never again until they unfuck their awful soft/firmware.
You need to open the csm in the new bios firet, than asus AM4 boards can not use generic usb driver, only can use AMD usb driver, or you will get stuck at the Starting Windows splash screen.
Yeah I gathered, still screwing around with getting a proper up to date Win7 image without the USB3 stack.
so tl;dr: how the fuck do I integrate updates, @canonkong 's X570 drivers, not integrating @daniel_k 's (excellent btw) USB3 stack, AND get it to boot under UEFI?
