I am getting error as Cannot Open Volume for Direct Access for external HDD. What could be a possible issue and how can I get it fixed?
Often this means dead/faulty drive, but since this is external drive it could be a controller issue in the external case. Try removing the drive and testing it connected directly as a spare drive, can you then see it in disk management?
