Can't install important windows drivers and updates on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Hey guys,

first my current pc specs:

Intel i5 6600k, MSI H170 PC Mate, DDR4 8GB RAM 2133mhz, GTX 650 (my GTX 1060 is in repair), 3 HDDs, Seasonic Focus Plus 650W Gold

Former setup: AMD 8350 FX, Asrock 970 Extreme 3, DDR3 8GB RAM, same HDDs, same PSU

I am getting very desperate here. I had to do a backup of my data, but clean the main HDD, where Windows 7 was installed on. For weird reasons, the motherboard couldn’t boot at all from my CD, so I had to use both a bootable stick and my CD, because if I booted from my stick with no CD in, I would get an error. I made sure to download necessary drivers for my motherboard and placed it on a HDD. The motherboard isn’t new and I got it from my friend. I’m not sure, when he last updated the BIOS and Windows 10 drivers, but at some point he already did it.

After installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, I had and still have issues installing updates and necessary drivers like net Framework, Service Pack, etc… If I would to run Windows Updates, I would get the Error code 80244019, which I couldn’t fix at all. So, I tried installing updates and drivers on my own. Instead, I get the error message “Your PC is not applicable for this software” or “This software is not suited for your system”. I tried running cmd with admin rights typing in stuff like sfc to repair Windows 7, manually inserting DLLs with cmd and what not. I can’t even run some other drivers from the official drivers page for this motherboard (MSI), like Intel Chipset for Windows 7, Storage Technology and I forgot the other things. I even checked that I downloaded the right versions (for 64bit). Asmedia USB drivers are working, Audio is working, USB 3.0/3.1 drivers working, Nvidia drivers are working and internet is working, too. All my hardware with USB 2.0 ports are working, too.

Look, I just want to continue doing my work (drawing, making graphics) and learn C & C++. However, I need those drivers and updates. I don’t want to install Windows 10, because I’d would have issues with my drawing tablet and I installed numerous new updates for my tablet, just to fix it, yet my experience was frustrating. Nor do I want to deal with forced updates, forced user settings, forced unnecessary software, which i can’t change and uninstall. My graphics tablet worked flawlessly on my former Windows 7 setup.

Can I preinstall all those drivers on my Windows installation disk or stick? Did I do something wrong? Please guys, help me!

Maybe easier to get a win7 iso with all updates already integrated.

Does this also include net Framework updates?

Either something is wrong with my OS or something went wrong during the installation. The weird thing I don’t understand, during the installation I had to forcefully create a partition by opening the Command Prompt, copy and paste the data from my CD to my HDD and then boot from my HDD. This is weird. What I find more weirder is the fact my motherboard didn’t recognize my Windows 7 installation CD and gave me an error message. It didn’t help, when I went to BIOS menu and tried to boot from the CD drive. It only booted from my USB stick. This is very suspicious. Does anyone have an idea?

edit: When I opened the Boot menu (by pressing <s>F8</s>[2nd edit: no, it’s F11]), it didn’t even show me the CD drive with the Win7 installer CD in it at all.
2nd edit: For testing I inserted a Vista CD into my CD drive, started the Boot menu and the motherboard was able to boot from the CD and started the Vista installat tion. Afterwards, I inserted a Windows 7 CD into my CD drive and tried to boot again. It gave me the message “Unable to boot. Error 5”. Now I have an idea what can I do to solve that.

Ii’m currently following a tutorial to intergrate updates and drives into a win7 iso.

I think also framework updates. See PM.

Okay, I got it to work… kind of. But atleast there is progress. For those, who see this post and have similar problems, please read through this:

Something was wrong with the intallation. My thoughts were right, because it has something to do with Error 5 in the boot menu. My Win 7 wasn’t fully recognized by my motherboard. Here is a thread from a different forum, where it’s explained (please read it):

Luckily, I have a Windows Vista CD, created an image file from the CD, followed the steps mentioned in the link and then my disk was recognized aftwards. My motherboard was able to boot from there and started the installation and I didn’t have to use my USB stick anymore. I didn’t have to create a partition like last time. I managed to install some important drivers and updates, but however, not everything works. Atleast I managed to install SP1 and net Framework 4.7.2. I will work later on that. If you happen to own a CD drive and you probably need the image file, here is a link I created, where you can download it. Since I’m a owner of this disk, I can share the image file (this is just a CD image, not the the whole Vista CD content).

I may create another post, once I worked out everything.

Edit: In case the website is for some reason offline, I will quote the explaination how to make a Windows 7 CD recognizeable. Remember, you can use a bootable stick, but in my case, I still have a CD player.
