Dell Vostro 5481 Bios Corruption - Service Tag No Longer Valid

Hi All,

I’ve recently updated the BIOS on my Dell Vostro 5481 but after doing so my service tag is no longer the correct length and displays only two characters.
This no results in a message notifying that the Service Tag hasn’t been programmed, but with no way of correcting this via the BIOS Setup menu.

Reflashing via the Dell BIOS app makes no difference.

I’ve already got a CH341A USB programmer, I’m just wondering if there’s a way I can reflash directly to the chip to implant a corrected BIOS image? Or is there another easier way, which doesn’t involve Dell (the laptop is out of warranty and Dell are about as much use as a chocolate teapot in these situations).

Thanks
