Dell XPS 8300: Intel Serie 6 / i7 2600 / RST KO

Hello

Here is my configuration
Dell XPS 8300
Intel i7 2600
Intel Serie 6 chipset

RAID 1 disks

OS : Windows 10 pro 10074.
It’s a migration from windows 7 SP1 Ultimate
This PC is always on.

All is working perftecly. I’ve installed intel 12.8 RST software without difficulties

In Device Manager
i can see under drive : Intel Raid 1 Volume

My question is :
I can’t have RST software working. The service doesn’t want to launch, and when i try to launch the app from systray i have an error, like this one : https://communities.intel.com/thread/31737?start=0&tstart=0

I think i can live without RST software but few times ago i had an alert with one of my drive and i was able to saw it only in RST application ( without rebooting)…

Do you have any idea ?

thanks

Toon

You should consider, that the currently available Windows 10 TP versions
a) are not yet stable enough for daily work and
b) - as you already know - have problems with the installers of the Intel RST Software, which need .NET Framework 4.5 (and do not know .NET Framework 4.6).

Thanks for answer

I know. :) All my data are backed up on a NAS and if my system crash ,i can re install win7 on the system partition. no matter if this pc is not available for 1 day

FYI, i have the same problem than others with RST 13.6 installation due to .NET error, but as i’ve seen here, my serie 6 is not supported in those 13.x version. i roll back yesterday to 12.8 and i don’t have had the .NET error. The installer goes fine, driver version as well changed. i’ve had serveral windows update between those installations… maybe this kind of problem is solved now…

By my side, actually the only problem that i encounter with Win10 is only this RST console which won’t load. Maybe this problem will not occured in next windows 10 version, but as i’ve read here, my chipset is no more supported by intel, no luck to have a version compatible by intel ?

The last Intel RST(e) version, which does fully support Intel 6-Series Chipsets, is v12.9.4.1000.
I think, that - besides the "conventional" RST v11.2.0.1006 - the RST(e) v12.9.4.1000 driver in combination with the Intel RAID ROM v12.9.0.2006 will be the best choice for your system.

Thanks

Does i need obligatory to update Intel Rom ? it may be difficult with aDell ultra specific Bios…

I will upgrade the RST to v12.9.4.1000 this evening :)

Toon

There is no need to update the Intel RAID ROM, but you may get better results with a 100% matching RAID Utility version.

I know that. My recommendation is to test just the Intel RAID driver v12.9.4.1000 as first step and - if you are satisfied with it - to update the Intel RAID ROM later.

Thanks Fernando for your help

I found this Intel link. Is it good ? because it says .1001 instead of .1000

No, this is the first and not the best driver of the v12.9 series.
Please look into the start post of >this< thread. There you will find the latest (and best) Intel drivers.
