[Discussion] Tigard as a BIOS dumper/programmer

Hi everyone! I’m basically completely new to the realm of hardware hacking as well as this forum. Sorry if this is the wrong category, but it looked like a good fit. I was looking into getting my first programmer when I came across this open-hardware project:

It looks like it supports a broad range of protocols and the most common voltage levels.

First: Can this board be used as BIOS programmer? I see where it says that it can read firmware over SPI as one of the features.

Second: Should this board be used as a programmer? If the CH341A or T48 is really the friendlier device I can go that route instead. Not sure if it makes a difference but I would be using Linux and thus something like flashrom.
