@zenki
Why didn’t you use the currently latest UBU v1.80a19.1?
Tried them all from a17 to a19.
Same issue.
It’s weird because it was working fine before
Hi
I tried using the latest UBU version to upgrade the microcodes on my Asrock Z270 Pro4
I used FPT -bios -d to extract the bios region.
When replacing the microcodes, the program asks if i want to use mmtool or uefireplace, so i tried both and ended up with 2 different bios.bin files. Which one is safe to use with FPT -bios -f ?
μcodes replaced with UefiReplace
μcodes replaced with mmtool_a5
Thanks for the help
No such thing in mods…
Same mcode start offset as the original ASROCK file starts @ 0xC10400, MMtool version produces the same, it should be the best version to pick.
Used the mmtool one and all went well. Thanks a lot!
Our guy, SoniX, should be back fairly soon. See his updated UBU-MEGA site.
His friend, Foxy, is giving him a hand right now - see the ChangeLog_b1. Updated UBU is now in Beta stage: UBU_v1_80_b1
Thanks Foxy! Give our guy our best!
I have an ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi and I am unable to modify the CAP file and use the BIOS Flashback with the motherboard anymore. Also, the latest 1.80B1 doesn’t update the microcode on my BIOS as well.
I know. It will be corrected in the next issue.
Sorry for my intervening.
The last time I used UBU was like 3 years ago, when I modded the microcode(s) on my x299 rampage encore.
It worked quiet well.
Well, since I made a system upgrade with an Z790 apex encore, I wanted to modify the MC as well.
So I came back to this tool.
Installed python with cmd “extra” ( pip install colorama pltable). dropped the MMTool files into the root folder (renamned it ofc) and started the Ubu.exe… instead of the .bat which it had 3 years ago.
So far the preperation…
Loading in my BIOS… then I get asked what method to use… Ive read somewhere on here to use MMtool, which I did. 3 years ago this question did arise. I also tried the other 2 methods.
Anyway. When loading in the bios it seems UBU cant read the MC, I also dont get the option to extract the MC.
The question I have now is:
Did I install it correctly? Does it need to be installed any different?
Is it not compatible with the last gen of mainboards / Bioses?
Basically. Is the issue im experiencing a user or programm problem?
Using UBU 1.80.b1
It opens and reads… the mcodes are automatically extracted to the “Extracted” folder on UBU root.
Oh boy. Thank you very much for clearing that out!
Didnt notice it. 3 years ago you had to manually extract it. Yikes!
Thanks for the info. The MCs are indeed in the “Extracted” Folder.
Ive read here and there that the exchange of the MCode doesnt work on some boards / Bios versions.
Is this also an issue on the said Apex Encore?
Too modern bios/mcu structure, for relying on UBU dependencies (old “leaked” AMI tools and private UEFI tool project)… besides the great tool and developer dedication, but i do suggest to try the various options presented and compare them, especially the offsets.
Still you have the USB BFB feature so no big deal some try outs.
