Hey, I’ve tried finding the answer to my question, but I couldn’t find it (yet). I hope I searched thoroughly enough.

Question is: Can I add custom microcode to be included in the to-be-updated BIOS?

I got so far as finding the CPUID I needed, and tried to start added it in MCUpdate.txt:

1
2
3

#LGA3647
#50654 3647\cpu50654_platBF_ver02006A08-2020-06-16_PRD_

I wouldn't know the PRD, and whether this way is even valid to use it ^^

I would like to use this CPU: https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/xeon_platinum/8124m
With this motherboard's latest BIOS: https://www.gigabyte.com/Server-Motherboard/C621-WD12-rev-10 (or, if not possible for some reason: https://www.asus.com/Commercial-Servers-...s/WS-C621E-SAGE)

Is there a way to find out beforehand if the specific CPU will be supported and, if not, can it be added?

Apparently only Amazon servers and ASRock racks support this CPU: https://www.asrockrack.com/general/produ...2%20WS#Download

@Allubz - If you get SAGE, I’ve made BIOS that supports that CPU, if it’s ES/QS CPU, and or not supported by stock BIOS (It should be, I think 50654 is there by default)
Allow B0 stepping on Asus W621E Sage (27)

The gigabyte board you linked should support it as well, if it’s really 50654 CPUID

As for adding your own microcode insert via UBU, someone else will have to help you with that.

@SoniX

I uploaded the bios file

NF5270M4_BIOS_4.1.26_Standard_20190606.zip (4.35 MB)

@linkpark007

@Lost_N_BIOS has already posted a direct link. I will look shortly and report the results.

Added:

I looked quickly. In general, 3 OROM LAN are in another file with GUID 365C62BA-05EF-4B2E-A7F7-92C1781AF4F9. Logically, they should be replaced, but something is wrong.
I will solve this problem.

Added2:

@linkpark007

Fixed. Try 1.79.8

my board no have possibility for use integrated vga but there is gop video too

No wonder, you have no LAN Intel, but you have OROM.

I have intel wifi

Hello,

can i use ubu tool to update uefis from older x79 INTEL bioses? Intel had not provided ivy bride support for their x79 boars so it would be nice if ubu is able to do. If this was already answered somewhere within this thread i am sorry i asked again. thanks.

Get the error below with the newer Gigabyte Z390 BIOS’s. Earlier BIOS’s it never did this.

Here is a link to one of the BIOS’s.

It seems the replacements do work though. The error happens when I try to repace any of the firmwares or microcodes.

EDIT by Fernando: This post has been moved by me into the better matching thread (had been wrongly posted into >this< thread).

Question about UEFI GPU-related drivers. My motherboard and gpu combo (Asus ROG VII Crosshair Hero Wifi & Asrock RX 5700 XT Taichi)
does not show any output on screen prior to loading an os (either Gentoo Linux, Ubuntu 20.04, or Windows 10 Pro), so I have to use bcdedit
or efibootmgr to reboot into my other operating systems since I can’t see anythin in post/bios/boot menu. (well, output over dp; hdmi works but
as my preferred primary monitors have no hdmi its a bandaid on a wound)

I’ve updated the GOP drivers in both the motherboard and the gpu bioses, and still no dp output pre-os. Where and how should this be solved?

This may be normal behaviour when Fast Boot is enabled in BIOS.

Fastboot enabled or disabled, still no output.

Try disabling CSM AND Fastboot.

I’m sorry. I keep excluding info. Anyways. CSM/Fastboot, on/off in all possible combos has the same
results.

Hello i have a gigabyte B450 AORUS ELITE (rev. 1.0) with latest f52 bios.I updated the modules with ubu tool on the bios and when i try to flash it with qflash it says invalid bios image.
Stock bios : https://mega.nz/file/mU8GwKiQ#SPbDX_Lg4k…tmHkqL2LGE7_5-c
Modded bios : https://mega.nz/file/CE1i0SJR#DAAA_jbCSR…TFbIwbTXnwSL2ec

@ektorasdj This is as expected…

You are going to have to use the FreeDOS Annex method as found on this page:
[Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS
First make a BACKUP.ROM for your board, then edit your MOD.ROM via UBU, and flash using the FreeDOS ANNEX method.

@hancor
Hello. Thank you very much for showing me the way to flash my motherboard. Using efiflash_0.85v_mod i managed to successfully update my mobo with the mod bios!!

@ektorasdj

My nephew has the same board on his DIY rig; so I had been down this road before…!
Delighted that worked out for you.
